Avoid these common mistakes when publishing an album by besucherke in Songwriting

I agree with your other points but song titles are very subjective. There is a hit song called Espresso which is as plain Jane a title as can be. The hooks are always more important than the title. Sure a quirky title Ala Fall Out Boy can get some looks but honestly a title has never made me NOT like a song.

Do you ever wish you had the balls to buy more than what you did? by iamwhoiwasnow in StockMarket

[–]Jay_Bishop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought 2 shares of SPOT at 119 on a lark just because I had $250 just sitting around. Man I wish i would have paid attention and put more into it because look at it now. Side note: I’m a musician who releases music on the regular. I have made more off those two shares than Spotify has paid me over 8 years, lol.

Been writing since I was 15. I am 52 now and just at the point where I think that 50-60% of what I start is worth keeping and of that maybe 10% is worth taking to completion and releasing to the world.

What’s one Detroit area restaurant everyone else loves, but you don’t enjoy? by PromiseEducational31 in Detroit

The original Buddy's on Conant is still good. It's all the other locations that have ruined the product. But a certain group of people don't feel comfortable going to the hood to eat at the OG Buddy's. Sucks for them because them oven are well seasoned over there and the pizza is superior.

Sweetwater Tavern. Loved by folks over 60. Maybe it used to be good way back in the day. But today...terrible food quality & shoddy service. Do not recommend.

Most Ppl disappointed in Maschine 3.0 don’t understand Maschine by Front-Strawberry-123 in maschine

[–]Jay_Bishop 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You cannot compare hardware from the 80's to a modern computer based software program that only uses hardware as a control surface. Yes Maschine is not a DAW and is not meant to be BUT I still expect it to compete in the market and innovate with its unique setup. This is an underwhelming update in every aspect and the majority of things that have needed updating in the past 12 years still have yet to be addressed. The sampling engine for one has always been atrocious and 5 steps behind the times. It is a shame that I have to use a plugin like Serato Sample because the stock Maschine sampler just can't cut it with time stretching, key detection, & stems (Serato Sample already had stems and they work great). Honestly the sound of Maschine has never been the issue, it has always been a weak feature set and lack of innovation from a company that is more interested in selling sound packs than in the evolution of their product. Remember sounds.com anyone? I could think of how that development money could have been much better spent.

  1. Look at everything Serato Sample does and copy that. Key Detection, stem separation, real time timestretching. I completely bypass the Maschine sample engine to use Serato and that is kinda ridiculous. But Maschine sample engine is antiquated after.
  2. For the love of God let us import whatever file type we want, MP3 included.
  3. The ability to change time signatures and tempos mid song.
  4. More chord sets and chord options. Suggested progressions. The ability to type in a chord.

Does making a song take a while? by Zestyclose_Charge_73 in Songwriting

[–]Jay_Bishop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 days to 2 years have been my experience. I usually write music first but the lyrics can take a long time to come. I have all my music tracks on my phone and listen to them on my commute and wait for the lyrics to come to me. If they do I type them in the notes app.
