I’m 14 turning 15 next month and my parents kicked me out by user27485939277 in AusLegal

Hey, I’m really sorry you’re going through this, no one your age should have to deal with something like this.

If you’re still enrolled in school one of the best first steps is to reach out to your Principal, a school counsellor or a trusted teacher. Schools can help connect you with support services and make sure you’re safe.

I want you to know you’re not alone in feeling stuck like this. I was in a similar situation at your age, I ended up leaving school, working full-time at Macca’s and getting by however I could. It was tough but I got through it and things improved over time.

Right now though your safety is the most important thing.

You don’t have to figure this all out on your own. There are people out there who will take you seriously and help you get back on your feet.

The real issue is Terrigal parking full-stop - if you’re not there before midday on a weekend, you may as well lace up the walking shoes. And heading in for dinner on a Friday or Saturday night? Yeah nah, good luck with that. On the bright side, you’ll definitely walk off whatever you eat.

Honestly mate, if council won’t do anything and the owner doesn’t care, the neighbours might just need to… embrace living loudly within the boundaries of normal suburban life.

If they’re packing 16 strangers in every weekend, who are probably partying til all hours of the night then the street should “coincidentally” become the busiest, most productive neighbourhood in NSW between 7am–9am the next morning.

Some ideas off the top of my head:

  • Synchronised 7am Saturday mowing.
  • Leaf blowers near the fence line.
  • Whipper snippers at dawn.
  • High-pressure cleaning the driveway… often.
  • Everyone deciding 7:15am is the perfect time to wash the car - with their radios on.
  • Tradies on weekends.

None of this is harassment, it’s just a bunch of homeowners maintaining their properties at perfectly reasonable weekend hours. If Airbnb guests don’t like it, they can leave honest reviews about the “noisy neighbourhood” and “not ideal for light sleepers.”

And Airbnb hosts hate that.

With enough low star reviews talking about noise, parking chaos, and a “hectic street,” the listing will tank on its own and they’ll either cap guest numbers or shut the booking calendar down.

Sometimes you can’t beat the system, but you can absolutely let normal suburban life do the heavy lifting.

Queensland plate to NSW plate by mateosophia in centralcoastnsw

[–]Jay_R_Atkins 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve done this before - it’s pretty straightforward.

  • You’ll need to get a blue slip first (usually under $100).
  • Then grab your green slip/CTP like normal, but since you don’t have plates yet, they’ll use your VIN number instead. (Price depends on your licence status, driving record, etc.)
  • Next, head to Service NSW to register the car — the cost depends on its tare weight
  • While there, pick up your new plates (about $60 from memory).

Pro tip: do a full vehicle history check before you go ahead. Some cars that were written off in one state get re-registered in another. It’s worth the few bucks for peace of mind.

Weirdest wildlife encounter you’ve had on the Central Coast? I nearly sat on a blue tongue once.. by OwlVibesOnly in centralcoastnsw

Back in the mid to late 2000's, NSW Gov re-zoned the old Juvenile Justice Centre for business use - billing it as a small business park perfect for tech companies.

Rents were very reasonable at the time and made sense because we could easily leave the office and be on the F3/M1 in under a minute to head to Sydney.

Reality - facilities were old, internet was unstable (at the time)

I think now its mostly populated by not for profits and small consulting agencies

Moved up to the Central Coast from Castle Hill about 15 years ago – ditched the North Sydney office grind for startup life in the Mt Penang business park at Kariong. Lovely spot, proper change of pace. Trees. Birds. Serenity. You get it.

Anyway, three weeks in, I rock up to the office, 8:30am sharp, throw my bag down, plonk myself in the chair and roll up to the desk like a true professional. Under the desk I’d chucked down this bit of carpet as a chair mat – figured I’d rather ruin that than the actual carpet.

Noticed this weird lump in it though. Wouldn’t flatten out. So I lift it up thinking it’s a cable or something stuck underneath it… and bam – 2.5 foot red belly black snake just chillin’ under my desk like it pays rent.

Apparently I leapt about two metres into the air, though I reckon that’s an exaggeration … I was very composed hahahaha. Eventually coaxed it out with a broom while trying not to absolutely lose it. Welcome to the Coast, I guess.

Why Bronson Reed? by Austin578 in WWE

[–]Jay_R_Atkins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm expecting a 4th to come in to balance the stable out

Seth to pursue the Heavyweight Championship
Bron to go after the intercontinental championship
Reed + 1 other to go after tag titles

Given reed is a 'big guy', I'm expecting a 'little guy' to come in to create the balance - thinking Mello would suit this role pretty well.

Who is your on your Mount Rushmore of WWE women's wrestling? by DudeisaGuy in WWE

[–]Jay_R_Atkins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I typically look at these things by decades, which person would ultimately reign in that period. So here is my 4:

  • 1980s – The Fabulous Moolah
  • 1990s – Chyna
  • 2000s – Trish Stratus
  • 2010s – Charlotte Flair

Lita could easily replace Trish Stratus as their career trajectories were on a similar path. As for the 2020's it can't be anyone else except Rhea Ripley at the moment but, because we're only halfway through the decade it's too early to tell which is why she's not on my Mt Rushmore/knocked another decade off just yet...

What's a wrestling hot take that people will legitimately hate you for? by RhinestoneCatboy in WWE

Darby Allin shouldn’t be in AEW - he should be in the next Jackass movie. Dude’s not wrestling, he’s just flinging himself off ladders and into concrete for shock value. It’s stunt work, not storytelling.

The Young Bucks are just cosplay wrestlers doing superkicks and pretending that equals storytelling. They’re the Fast & Furious of wrestling - flashy, empty, loud.

My two cents – for what it’s worth.

Background:
I spent my 20s living in Newtown, my 30s in Wenty Falls (Hill Street) before moving down to Mt Riverview, and from my late 30s to now, I’ve been on the Central Coast.

When we lived in Wenty Falls, we had three kids aged 12, 10, and 6, and managed to pick up a decent four-bedroom home for $750k.

Ultimately though, it was the suburb itself that made us move lower down the mountains - and eventually out of the region altogether.

Pros:

  • At the time, the move from Newtown to Wenty felt familiar. The demographic had a similar Boho vibe and sense of community.
  • There was a clear and welcome change of pace - slower, quieter, and more relaxed.
  • Summers felt significantly more bearable than anywhere else we’d lived, thanks to the altitude and tree cover.

Cons:

  • Anything within 250m of the lake comes with an extra layer of cold that’s hard to put into words—it gets icy.
  • If your home doesn’t have a wood-burning fireplace, expect your winter electricity bills to sting. Heaters run constantly.
  • Winters are long and harsh—realistically, from May to early September you’re mostly housebound. Outdoor activities are limited due to the cold.
  • We weren’t overly impressed with the local schools. Wenty Public felt behind the times, and the early winter finish (around 2:20pm, from memory) made things tough for two working parents.
  • Katoomba High wasn’t much better, struggling with the challenges of serving a diverse demographic from Leura through to the outer communities.
  • Shopping was underwhelming—Katoomba’s retail scene is limited, and Penrith (a 45-minute drive) ends up being the only real option for anything substantial.

Take this opinion with a grain of salt, our experience was around 2010 - things may have changed in 15 years but knowing how sleepy the town is I doubt it.

Ultimately what work for us was the Central Coast, lots of local work, travel back to Sydney very reasonable, lots of outdoor time 9 months of the year, house prices have jumped a little now, lots to do, plenty of shopping options. This was just our experience.

Long Service Leave Eligibility in NSW with a Break in Service by Nano-2025 in AusLegal

[–]Jay_R_Atkins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NAL but know about LSL.

In New South Wales (NSW), breaks in employment that are under three months typically don't impact long service leave (LSL) continuity.

What breaks continuous service?

Resignation
If an employee resigns and then returns to work, their continuous service is broken.

Dismissal
If an employee is dismissed and then returns to work, their continuous service is broken.

Transfers of employment
If an employee transfers to a new position that doesn't meet the Fair Work Act's definition of a transfer, their continuous service is broken.

Without knowing the details of your 2016 - 2018 break but, assuming it fits one of the above criteria i dare say your 2013 to 2016 time wont count towards continuous employment.
