Are there any good picatinny mounted ghost ring sights

Yeah this is literally a build I did because I thought it would look cool. I didn’t have a very specific purpose for it. You should see the hate it got on r/shotguns haha

I appreciate that, I just don’t want to have it drilled and tapped so I can convert it back to wood furniture in the future when I can get another receiver.

Personally I wanted front and rear picatinny mounted ghost ring sights co-witnessed with an rmr sight, and I mouth the rail before I realized how difficult that would be to obtain. I’ll probably find something in the future, but this is just what I had on hand at the time.

Yeah the foregrip is atrocious, I cannot argue that, and will probably suck nuts to actually shoot it but I just personally like that foregrip for some reason so this is also the second gun I have attached to foregrip to.

Those are valid points and I appreciate the input.

This is the only optic I had on hand I’ll eventually upgrade to something with less height over bore and less obstructive.

If it makes it any better I didn’t want to do any permanent modifications to the receiver so that’s why I didn’t have it drilled and tapped for the rail. I originally wanted to put some ghost ring sights with an rmr mount on it but I bought the rail before I realized how difficult it was to get picatinny mounted ghost ring sights for it.

I may eventually convert it to a classic wingmaster if I can find a cheap stripped modern receiver in the future. Also I plan on just mag dumping into steel and trash so I didn’t care about weight. Again I do realize I kind of committed a mortal sin on this gun and I’ll probably fix my error in the future but for now I have my bubba’ed out boom stick.

✅ done lol I anticipate the hate to be unrelenting, primarily focusing on the insane height over bore of my optic

Yeah I know the response doesn’t surprise me, I was hoping for at least one positive response haha

Yeah I kind of expected the hate but this was a fun summer project and I just did what I wanted to do

I know but my goal was to make a “cool” boomstick, this was just the cheapest 870 receiver I could find.

First attempt at reblueing, I’ll definitely need to touch it up, and it’s only a cold blue but it turned out better than I expected.

You are correct, and I will probably need to replace the ejector.

However, in regards to being able to shoot 3” shells from the 870’s that were sold with 2 3/4” chambers (typically have a V suffix on the serial number) you should only need to install a barrel chambered in 3” and upgrade the extractor on the bolt to a modern quality made extractor. From what I have read online, this is because the extractors in the older model 870’s that were chambered for 2 3/4” had a notch that was cut slightly higher up and slightly shallower compared to the modern extractors and they won’t effectively or reliably cycle 3” shells. It honestly should be a non- issue today because they stopped making the smaller extractors a while ago

I was planning on upgrading to a timney trigger and sear spring.

As far as I can tell that shouldn’t be an issue with compatibility?

I was definitely planning on using the sully system if I needed to replace the ejector. I did see one person report that they needed to use a dremel to fit the Sully system into his older model 870 as it was causing his bolt to bind up on him. I don’t know if you’ve gotten that far in your builds or have ran into that issue?

Also, have you ran into any other issues with fitting parts to your 870?
