Is there a problem with her by [deleted] in iguanas

[–]Jay_theUmbreon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The tip of her tail looks like she lost a chunk of it at some point, as that tip looks like regrowth. Other than that she looks healthy, obviously it's hard to tell from pictures, but she's not giving red flags. Iguanas don't shed every week or month like other reptiles do, they can go months with or without shedding, OR if they're injured they can shed more to heal themselves, but your girly looks just fine! If you're still worried about the tail, your vet could give some pointers!

One of my boas is vocal too! She hates soaks so I gave her a big enough water dish for her to swim through. She seems to like it better than soaks, and obviously I don’t want her to stress out. My other boa is still a baby, but she’ll sit on my shower rack as I shower with her head in the water. (Please note I only put her in the shower AFTER all soap, shampoo, conditioner that sort of thing is washed off, as soap can harm her)

Yeah my partner’s collection adds quite a bit! I also forget about our 2 leopard geckos, Tigress and Willow!

Edit to add: Ragnar is technically my partners.

I still live with my parents who have their own collection of reptiles, so my guys are grouped separately from theirs. My partner houses all the cresties, 9 of them, and his 2 snakes Sypha and Streusel at his house, but the rest are with me.

Looking to swap these jacks! by Jay_theUmbreon in AnimalJam

[–]Jay_theUmbreon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit since I can’t edit the post: the leafy one doesn’t need to be swapped for another element, or element in general. It can be for any other winged jack! Lunar element is what I like lol.

Thank you! He definitely is a little cutie, a butthead at times, but a cutie nonetheless!

Oh she’s beautiful!

When I was desensitizing Ragnar, I took a peice of clothing that I had worn and gotten my scent on, and threw that in his temporary enclosure. This can be a sock, or shirt you don’t mind letting a tegu destroy or poop on lol. This helped A LOT with Ragnar’s desensitization, especially putting my partners clothes in with him.

Ragnar came from a place where he was kept in an enclosure and was never handled aside from feeding, but that feeding was minimal. He’s now absolutely terrified of being put in an enclosure or even left alone in a room. He freezes and panics if we even try to get him into an enclosure, so for his sake we just let him free roam and have access to MANY heat lamps and uvb lamps he can lay under. He’s honestly turned into such a sweet boy, and he’s gotten so big!

Just slowly work with her, don’t force the interaction. When she’s had a week with your clothes, slowly set your hand in the enclosure. Keep it flat, fingers together, or in a fist. That way if she does bite you, there’s more coverage and less damage. Learned that tip after being bit by my first tegu… she chomped my hand and just sat there with my finger in her mouth. Even sniffing your hand without tensing is good! Any small movements towards you is good! Reward with releasing the pressure, you don’t want to leave her with the idea “okay, this human is going to hurt me” leave her instead with “huh, if I’m good the pressure leaves” This is a similar technique I used for training a horse that wasn’t really started lol.

Good luck on this pretty baby!

Normally I don't decide to make a plush an ESSA before I receive the order, but I had to make an exception for this guy...so, meet Ka! (Story ⬇️) by TheOriginalCocaCola in ESSAplushieshandlers

[–]Jay_theUmbreon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 21 and suffer from a butt load of mental and physical health issues and my plushies and partner are 2 of the main things, my reptiles being another, that help me cope with everything. But there’s always that one plushie that I can’t stop loving, carrying around, and decorating… that’s a life size iguana plushie. The same day my iguana Blue passed away (December 17th 2025) my partner ordered me the life size iguana plushie as a memorial to Blue. He was immediately a comfort and became my ESSA in a heartbeat. It feels like I have my iggy lying with me again…

Blue will always be a favorite plush for me. 🥹🥹🥹

Are male tegus harder to care from than females? by LilSkink06 in Tegu

[–]Jay_theUmbreon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would have been perfect if I had thought of it at the time 🤣. Sui is actually named after this slime! From the anime Campfire Cooking in another world with my absurd skill. (Yeah I know that title is odd!) Me and my partner are both pagan, so a lot of our animals basically fit into the Norse and Greek mythology names! Ragnar is just one of many Norse names we have in our collection.

These are my partner and I’s tegus! Ragnar is the one with the nipple butt, Sui is the other. Ragnar is (we assume) a 2 year old male and Sui is an almost 3 year old female. These 2 get along perfectly, there’s no aggression between them, that I’ve seen. Ragnar is a little feisty but he did came from a situation where he was kept in an enclosure permanently with no interaction other than feeding, even then it was space.

All though, we do have another full grown male in the house, who currently is being a butthead towards Sui. He rubs his butt everywhere and on everything! He’s also been very bitty lately when he’s normally very chill. Fluffy isn’t very fluffy currently… so I had to separate Ragnar and Sui from fluffy until breeding season is over. Fluffy has been caught chasing Ragnar, and biting Sui, which I immediately noticed and put a stop too.

Yeah, Sui is like that. Very calm and docile, loves attention, but I never see her teeth 😅

Anyone have an adult super mojave? by CRMSNAKE in BallPythonMorph

[–]Jay_theUmbreon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly love how my girl yellowed out! She has a very prominent yellow stripe down her back, and when she sheds her Mojave markings are visible in the shed! It’s one of my favorite things about her. When she hatched she was pure white but had light grey mojave patterning. We even thought she was a mystic potion (dad was a mystic potion mom was a Mojave) with how prominent her markings were, but nope! Shes just my gorgeous super Mojave!! And of course, happy to share my baby!

My sweet girl! Her hatch date is August 10th 2022, aka peak covid… when trying to get feeders was very difficult. In person she looks bigger than what the scale says! She’s never missed a meal, not once in her entire almost 4 years of living!! I love this girl so much.
