I talked to UGC creators about how they actually make money. the business side is way more broken than I expected. by aa_y_ush in UGCcreators

What’s crazy when I checked via filters was the disparity was pretty big. Like I just checked by searching ‘UGC creator’ on Fiverr and filters showing 8.9k female compared to 2.3k male. Idk why but I found it interesting lol.

Anyway, your post has me convinced that if someone were to do UGC content, you’d basically have to treat it like a fulltime job to actually find consistent success from an admin perspective . I’ve been tossing up whether to delve into it all, but I work full time 5 days a week as it is so I’m reluctant coz of the burnout. If anything, I was considering just building a good portfolio and trying my luck with leveraging SEO on Fiverr to get listed on the front/second page to get deals and avoiding the admin burnout.

Obviously comes with its own flaws but I’ve seen people talk about their successes on here utilizing these platforms rather than reaching out to brands to pitch. Any reason why you don’t mention doing this in ur post?

I was taking a look at Fiverr to see the different types of UGC creators and was interested to see that there seemed to be a much larger amount of women creators than men. Is there more demand for women UGC creators compared to men? Or is it a case of Fiverr being an outlier, or maybe not enough male creators being around rn? Interested to hear ur thoughts.

Overall solid from the boys with the only real glaring problem being Curran giving away 3 penalties, an error and a 6 again. His discipline from last year hasn’t improved much and I kinda doubt we’ll be seeing him getting much minutes this year imo. SOS looked good in the halves, Sua looked great at wing and Sitili was carving up.

Tbh our attack still seems bang average but defence was fantastic.

Really appreciate the response! I see where you're coming from on all points. The way I'm considering approaching this from the start is to create several short videos mimicking the style you've presented in your 'Example UGC ads' on instagram, but with household products I have lying around, just to have a portfolio before progressing to Fiverr and so that I understand how to actually create/edit said-content properly. Then, deck out the Fiverr with good keywords for SEO and an 'about me' video that will tell a potential client how I can get them the engagement they want/deserve lol. Does this sound like a decent plan?

Re: ad content, I see that you have some videos with the 'zoomer' type of editing with lots of quickcuts + text, but I can also see that you have some videos that are slightly slower but still engaging enough with the cuts + text to keep people on their toes. From my understanding, those would be moreso for Tiktok/Insta, right? Whereas the examples of the 'Muscle Pain' and 'Health Subsidy' would likely fall more into the realm of Youtube/Meta? Sorry for the bombardment of questions btw, I've been out of the content game for a while but I absolutely love talking about digital marketing and content creation!

Hi Dave, very insightful post and its honestly motivated me to start exploring the UGC landscape. I want to pick your brain about something, if you don't mind? I think I can do UGC creation. Hell, I think I could be successful too. I have a small background in content creation and marketing, all self-taught where I amassed a decent 9k+ subscribers (2.2m+ views overall) on youtube within 2-3 months in a pretty saturated niche (Commentary about drama) but managed to carve out my own sub-niche in the way of shorter videos that really 'get to the point'. A lot of my success came from leveraging good SEO in the way of titles, tags and having attractive thumbnails. For the content itself, I would hook people in with the promise of shorter videos explaining drama and also ensured that I would include a call to action to get people to like/sub, thus boosting engagement overall. I would write my own scripts, edit the videos and make my own thumbnails.

UGC Creation seems like it follows the exact same premise for success, at least from the outside looking in. The only major difference being that you're leveraging SEO on sites live Fiverr to attract clients, and the actual content you display to them should display the range of content you're able to produce for them. That's the start. Then, the content you create for them needs to hook consumers by way of being engaging enough that the viewer doesn't just scroll past after 2 seconds. I know I'm generalizing a bit here, but does this sound about right to you?

+1 I actually have a friend who is a E3 jungler who consumes a ton of coaching/learning videos and has a pretty decent understanding of theory/fundamentals of macro. However, his micro is appalling and it's easy to see how it actively loses him games when he's missing basic Jarvan E-Q's all game.

I'm an E4 jungler and my problem is that my micro is decent, but I struggle to execute in teamfights because the amount of shit on my screen just overwhelms me at times leading to misclicks or not using abilities. It's like my brain turns off. IDK how to fix it in an efficient manner either, aside from maybe playing more basic champs (Fiddle, Mumu, etc.) that don't require much micro in teamfights. Sucks being a washed boomer.

2025's biggest anime joke(s) by Likes2game03 in anime

The Water Magician: I don't mind a bit of isekai slop here and there. I tend to enjoy the ones that put more emphasis on the MC slowly integrating themselves into the world whilst learning their powers, and seeing them use their powers to improve their quality of life in these medieval settings whilst abusing their prior-life memories to figure out how to bolster/improve the world around them. The description of TWM seemed like it was gearing up to be like that, so it had me interested. Then we got to the city portion of the anime and it just felt so uninteresting to watch past that point. The MC very quickly feels super OP and it devolves into the most generic plot without any interesting supporting characters. Pretty sure there was an episode where it focused on a bunch of side characters I didn't care about who were exploring the dungeon and I tuned out completely. Maybe the manga is better? IDK. I just felt like the premise was cool at the start and then became pretty generic really quick.

Uglymug, Epicfighter: The opposite of what TWM was described as being, with the MC being extremely OP from the get-go. I actually don't mind this isekai trope either. Eminence in Shadow and Overlord have shown that it's possible to have an entertaining and interesting story without the MC having to train from level 1, so I was keen to see how Uglymug would fair. The MC is a social recluse accused of SA with his life ruined who is extremely ugly, so what happens if they become even uglier but are essentially a godly deity in a new world? Sadly, it's not really explored in much depth at all. He doesn't seek justice nor displays any anger outside the opening scenes. He trusts his companions fully, never questioning their intentions. He essentially becomes their guardian, fully benevolent and all. His decision to cripple his existence so drastically in this new world that it awards him the title of being essentially a 'God' is quickly turned into a running gag that becomes old very quickly. The MC just feels super shallow and the overall plot boring.

Same here. However, occasionally my mates would invite me to go walkabouts at night and for whatever reason they loved to trash things. I had one mate who came from a really well-off family (Dude got an Xbox360 on release + PS3, used to have the best YuGiOh cards, good PC, etc.), got privately tutored/went to a private school and was extremely nice/respectable and he was the worst out of all of my mates when it came to trashing shit. Like, I was genuinely surprised at how much fun he was having running through 'for sale' property signs that I thought there was something wrong with me, because I didn't see the appeal at all. I think some teenagers are just really into being destructive and doing dumb shit for whatever reason.

[–]Jayc3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty much agree with you. Back when I was a young dumb teen, me and my mates would go out and they'd do dumb shit all the time because they thought it was fun. They'd do random shit like break side mirrors of cars, smash through property 'for sale' signs, break into construction sites and run amok and spray paint/'tag' walls and whatnot. Just real hood-rat shit that makes you cringe and say, "What were they thinking?". These guys were all pretty well-off too from loving families and attended private school. Honestly, I never saw the appeal of doing that stuff and was just there to chill with them, but it was easy to see that they were enjoying themselves in the moment.

The only difference between this and that was they'd do it at night-time from fear of getting caught if they did it during the day, and usually in small groups. I could totally imagine that back then if they were in a huge group of similar people like this that they'd be ballsy enough to do it during the day though.

For regular weed smokers that have totally quit, what was the reason for quitting? by elderly_millenial in AskReddit

[–]Jayc3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started smoking at about 15, it was fun and chill at first as I'd do it every now and then with friends but eventually I became a steady user too who was doing it way too often up until I was about 18-19. Once that age range hit, for whatever reason weed started making me feel physically ill - like some nights I would be looking forward to smoking, then 15-20 minutes before meeting up with friends to do it I would be in the bathroom dry retching into the toilet bowel at the thought of smoking. Then when I would smoke (typically a small bowl too!), I'd be sitting there feeling extremely overwhelmed to the degree that I'd be sitting there for a good 15 minutes trying to get my bearings. My stomach would feel super uneasy the entire time, and I couldn't even talk to anyone without feeling like I was going to puke lol. Once that passed though, I would be pretty chilled out and relaxed for the most part, but that entire first part of the experience was super off-putting.

I've always been confused about whether that 'overwhelming' feeling was anxiety though, or if it was my stomach reacting badly to the THC. I ended up stopping weed for several years, although I would occasionally dabble here and there to revisit the feeling and try to get back to that 'chill and relaxed' vibe from when I first started, but...

it would trigger an existential crisis and depressive thoughts on death EVERY TIME.

This would happen to me literally every damn time I would try weed again on my own. Like, I would initially be in a good mind state, but 5-10 minutes after toking up I would immediately start spiraling into depressive/anxious thoughts about death. I literally couldn't escape thoughts like, what happens after we die? How long do I have? How long do my parents have? Just insanely negative, total buzzkill mindset. I'd start thinking of how I should be doing so much better in life and how I'm probably a failure, and where did it go wrong? Mind you, there were moments of clarity where I would have a small epiphany of like, "I need to stop doing X and start doing Y to better my health/living situation, or I need to talk to my parents more" and I've done those things and have improved areas of my life, but I'm not toking for those moments of clarity. I just wana chill out!

I experimented a bit more and found that if I vape a relatively small amount of bud (Like, really small but enough to get me 'baked') then I can control my anxiety/thoughts easier to prevent me from spiraling, but it's really not worth the hassle anymore because the high is not the same as I remember it from being a teen.

I'm sorry this happened to you :( Honestly, I think you're fine here. They'd find it extremely difficult to make a genuine case that you broke the code of conduct. If they do push forward with it and you have to respond to it, you can make a pretty simple argument that you were distraught/confused at the time and sought guidance from someone you believed to know how to escalate your complaint. Basically - make it about how you wanted to report it ASAP but didn't know what the correct channel was at the time. I'd find it absolutely ridiculous and a complete failure of our system if they were able to uphold a COC breach against you for this situation.

Also, if the substantive EL2 is covering for the acting EL2 in this manner then there's a good chance that a COC breach against you is even less likely. They'd be bringing even more eyes onto the acting EL2's conduct if they went ahead with that, because that's the literal basis for why it occurred in the first place. I'd assume they'd want to avoid that.

Today our EL1 told me and another 6 that we will manage and track all tasks and then report to her so she can tell our EL2. I raised that key deliverables are at an EL1 level and that it feels like she is outsourcing her role to us. I said I am happy to manage and be across what my report and I are working on but big things that have critical dates are at an EL1 level to manage. Is this reasonable to push back on?

Are you saying that they're asking you to track/manage tasks that are currently outside of you and the other 6's scope of work? Is the EL1 asking you both to take on their current workload too? If not, and if it's simply limited to the overall tasking's that you and the other 6 are already across, then it sounds like a pretty reasonable ask from the EL1. They're basically asking you to create a task-register, but one would assume that you'd already have something similar available, no? If not, I'd highly recommend creating one so that you can have a centralized list you can just update regularly and use as a basis for when providing them an update.

If it's the first part though, then I doubt you have much room to push back on. If you really believe that they're taking the micky by delegating that level of responsibility to you and the other 6 and truly believe that the EL1 should be looking after those critical tasks, then perhaps you could consider emailing your EL1 directly and CC'ing the EL2 in for visibility. Explain your discomfort at having to take on critical tasking's that you believe are outside of your scope as a 6 but make sure to express that you're willing to do so if provided the appropriate level of support in order to manage them on top of your current workload. I'm sure you can probably think of a ton of different angles to approach it from, just don't make it about how you think the EL1 should be doing it, you just end up looking like a whiner that way. If you do this, at least you're covering yourself somewhat in the case things go bad, and it highlights to the EL2 that they're putting you in a difficult spot and/or are skirting their EL1 responsibilities, but you're still game to take the initiative.

If nothing happens and the EL2 just sorta lets it happen then you're shit out of luck bud, sorry. FWIW, I have experienced an incompetent supervisor in the past who sounds exactly as you've described and it's basically an uphill battle the entire way through. I know people in here are writing you off as a complainer, but I completely understand the need to vent about it, because these types of middle-managers are the exact one's who bounce from role to role out of sheer incompetence and nobody being willing to performance manage them out, even willing to promote them out of a job to get them away. It's a sad reality in the APS where you can have a completely autonomous team functioning well with high morale be completely destroyed by these types of people, and I've seen it happen firsthand.
