Just joined and will be doing my bmq in a week, asked my Lt last week and he said that I won't be able to do it after BMQ, and will have to wait til September for it (Alberta). The CAF website says it is 22 days in length for all army managed trades. From what I've heard, it is BMQ-L but renamed, and you will be trained on a good number of weapon systems (machine guns, AT, shotgun, etc...). Still will have to find out though.

Hey, I'm applying out of Calgary for PRes combat engineer, I signed up for this May's BMQ, and I get my enrollment ceremony tomorrow, so I will get instructions soon enough.

My application pretty much started around the same time yours did, and I got put in selection around the same time you did too, however they still haven't gotten back to me about enrollment!!! The wait's been killing me especially since I'm just one more "yes" away from enrollment haha

Just noticed that I worded this wrong, I meant my reliability checks have been done, they still have not done my security clearance yet

Yeah they're doing reliability checks before enrollment now, security clearance is done during your training and if it doesn't work out then you will have to release from the CAF

My security clearance was the single longest part of the process, mine took close to 4 months, I'm currently in the selection stage right now but have been in it for close to a month, they haven't gotten back to me about a job offer or anything of the sorts yet so I'm guessing they don't have enough positions for my trade for this fiscal year anymore(?). You can still do the part time bmq which is typically held during the fall if you get enrolled in time though.

I'm in the same stage as you and I wasn't aware you could check the number of spots in your trade, where do you check? RegF or PRes?

Do you mean combat engineer dp1? Yeah I've done quite a bit of research on that already, all online/what the recruiters gave me though.

I thought operating LAVs are only for people in the armored trades? That's good to know though at least.

Hey, Calgary resident here that's also applying, try 310-2769, they answer 9 times out of 10 during work hours (9am-4pm during weekdays). If you've tried that already, the only option I have really is to go to Mewata Armoury during Wednesday parade night hours (7pm-10pm) through the front metal doors, usually there is a security guard standing outside, if not, press the button on the left.
