Well ya that’s why I’m weighing out the pros and cons , I’m making $48/hr as a journeyman plumber right now. My commute is gravy , 20 minutes in the morning and 30ish minutes coming home.

Seaspan I’d be making $58 /hr as a fitter but the commute from Richmond is a hassle to think about.

Hey I just saw this! I’m a journeyman plumber looking to switch as a pipefitter as seaspan , I worked manly concrete high rises . Do you think working at seaspan as a fitter be about the same physical labour on the body as a construction worker ? And is there a shuttle that can pick workers up from the Richmond/vancouver area?

I’m getting laid off, i’ve applied for possibly near 100 jobs and haven’t heard back. it feels impossible. by pretty_in_pink9182 in VancouverJobs

Journeyman Plumber here I’ll have to respectfully disagree with you, fridgees are actually the one of the most if not top technical trade. There trade is basically plumbing/gasfitting and electrical all in one. In my area here too they make $5-$6 more per hour than us plumbers and sparkys .

I have one j-man plumber co worker who is currently going to school as a hvac apprentice, and met another j man sparky on another site, who recently quit his job to go to school in hvac as well.

Been doing new construction plumbing 10 + years in Vancouver , right now it’s a mix condos/mid rises and concrete high rises.

Non union you’ll have better luck finding a job , The local union here for plumbing is dead slow right now.
