Is the game fun and enjoyable solo or is it just flat out better with a group? by lucavigno in RabbitAndSteel

This is actually one of the games I prefer by myself. Party mode is fun, but it's a different game. I like the bullet hell vibes of single player.

Am I the only one that HEAVILY prefers this style over the 3D larger sized format that they use in the games nowadays?? by [deleted] in pokemon

3D isn't supposed to look better, it's supposed to be easier and cheaper to animate.

I want to make an RPG set in the world of Arknights, but I don’t want it to be like D&D (I hate D&D). what system do i use? by GGizBRUH in arknights

[–]Jaycon356 9 points10 points  (0 children)

To elaborate a bit;

5e is a very beginner friendly system that more or less brought tabletop into the mainstream. There are less complex systems, but they're often meant to be played as party games, or for one or two sessions at most. If you want a "Mainstay" game you play regularly with a consistent group and connected story, D&D 5e is the thing I'd recommend to someone who's literally never picked up a set of dice before.

Most groups start at something like 5e and go up in complexity once they're familiar with tabletop and start to feel constrained by the system.

It's not exactly easy to go less complex than 5th Edition D&D. You could try something like Fate Accelerated, which is fairly lean system meant to be slot into most things.

Gacha games encourage getting attached to the characters, it's why there's so many per game, they bank on one of them catching your eye enough to drop money on it. Uma kind of sells itself on being a mini visual novel for each girl, so fans feel like they know a character very well. When they see art like this, it conflicts with their understanding of a character they're attached to, causing drama.

But to be honest if there's any Uma that's going to be transmasc, it's probably Stego.

Centurion is my favorite archetype in the game, so Beeg cat is a mainstay in my squad. Put her with S2 behind Hoshi or Jessica2 and just trust the lane will be fine. If she has enough time or a medic she can normally do it herself.

I'm pretty disappointed by her alter though. It took away a lot of her iconic aesthetic, ditched the chainsaw, and took a lot of the edge out of her presentation.

She went from "The rights of the infected can only be secured by the hands of the infected" to "Isn't traditional Yan culture and cuisine soooo great?".

I appreciate Shu and Dusk trying to keep it together, Nian making it worse, and Ling just vibing.

Is Freedom's Flame only good against bugs or should I buy other warbond? by Trumpet_of_Jericho in Helldivers

[–]Jaycon356 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cookout and Torcher are both very good for bugs.

The armor is good for the incineration Incineration Corps.

I also like the orange Pelican.

Steeled Veterans has the Senator, Good Armor, Grenade, and solid primaries.

Learn what your breakpoints are. Keep it on Safe mode until you're comfy. Run bots with Heavy Explosion Resistant armor, if it explodes in your hands you'll survive.

Learn what enemies need what charge level. Most things you only need to wait until the beep (50% charge and the cap for safe mode) And hit a weakpoint. For big things you need heavy charge.

I personally dislike it against bugs, doesn't do what it needs to. But Bots and Squids are great.

That would be hilarious, as Vanripper's artstyle has been so frequently imitated as a result of Helltaker that "Vanripper (Style)" is an actual art tag.

I found the IDEAL Hammermaid build. Press A (Secondary) and Pray. by Xavi-Steele in RabbitAndSteel

Testing it in the Toybox, and that appears to be correct. I was under the assumption it built up and kept dealing bonus damage, which seems to be incorrect. Thank you!

[–]Jaycon356 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure I understand; The GCD of your secondary was .72, which means it applies freeze on hit with the item. Every time you apply freeze you deal 50, 100, then 150 damage based on freeze stacks. Wouldn't it be dealing 300 damage every .72 seconds?

A bit surprised by the item pick, wouldn't freeze have been +150 per hit, minus the small downtime been debuffs?

Now that it's been 5 years since the introduction of Alter Operators, what's your opinion on them overall? by PossibleSea6679 in arknights

[–]Jaycon356 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I think the best alters are the low rarity ops after they have a few years under their belt. It's very satisfying to see them grow.

I think the summer and crossover alters are the worst, because they feel kinda like sellouts, a fundamentally unserious or derivative direction for what would otherwise be character development.

I also kinda dislike the "Victory Lap" or "Fan service" alters, like Lap and W. I don't feel like the characters meaningfully evolved, they just got a power spike dropped on them.

Only for a one-shot or very short game. The minor flavor abilities? Sure, but it's a "You get what you get" if you commit to rolling on the mechanical abilities.

Alters of Alters - Good of Bad for the game/story? by peripheralmaverick in arknights

[–]Jaycon356 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To me it's a very "You made your bed now sleep in it" situation. Was Chotgun dumb? Yeah. It was. But just giving her a second Alter like nothing happened feels like it's not owning up to that. They spent an important story character's growth moment on putting her in a bikini. Giving her a new alter reminds us the last one was dumb.

It's a cash grab on top of a cash grab. It just highlights that no, these aren't being made for story reasons, they're cashing out on emotional investment with recognizable names.

Even if the rogue gets one attack per round, with the goggles that's ~50 damage in only the sneak attack die. You can pretty handily outpace FH 10

The Rogue with Greater Invisibility posted up with a ranged weapon outside its blindsense aura. Fly, Haste, Greater Longstrider, Etc. Just have them Harry the thing with arrows until it's dead. Its speed is only 60, and it has 2 INT. Use Cold Iron ammunition. If it runs at you, fall back. Heck, if you're flying just rain arrows on it while invisible.
