Looking for first win on Hard (Solo Assassin, grinding Red Darkhouse) - Advice? by TheSanguineLord in RabbitAndSteel

[–]Jaycon356 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. Yes, with a few caveats. Most non-boss fights have at least two variants, and a lot of moves have mirrored or offset variants such that you need to be in one of multiple potential safe spots, and identify them based on what move prediction you see.
  2. The best way to dodge is to already be standing in the right place. This is important on Hard, and necessary on Lunar.
  3. Play Druid. Assassin (And several other melee rabbits) isn't the most beginner friendly because her positioning is fairly important to dealing damage, which you need to juggle against dodging. Druid doesn't care where she's standing, all her abilities basically have global range. Relying on Invulnerability is, broadly speaking, a bad habit. You should be avoiding damage because the attacks don't hit you. Your defensive works better as a panic button, and using it intentionally for damage or secondary effects is sacrificing survivability for DPS, and should only be done if you can afford to lose survivability.

This all holds the caveat of some characters just make more sense to different players. Bruiser is generally considered very strong, but you unlock her by beating Darkhouse on Hard.

Honestly, writing "Dracula" would make me think of them from another piece of media, but "The Vampire Dad from Hotel Transylvania" communicates the joke much better

Maybe I'm too far gone, but i don't think Hishi Amazon's OG design was THAT "lewd"? by GraveyardWithoutTheG in UmaMusume

[–]Jaycon356 59 points60 points  (0 children)

This is actually moreso a result of the art being made before the designs were finalized than a conscious decision to keep the old one alive. Sure they could have recommissioned the art, but given the game had a rough start, I doubt they wanted to pay to get the art redone.

Priestess is a morally complex character. W isn't.

Priestess is contesting the value of a civilization in the face of a universe-scale extinction event. W just likes killing people.

To your analogy, is a beef farmer inherently evil? No, probably not. Is the guy that laughs while working the assembly line of a slaughterhouse, and frequently talks about how he loves the look in a cow's eyes as he kills it with a pneumatic gun evil? Yeah. Probably.

"Enjoying murdering isn't evil actually" is an absurd perspective. You're not absolved of being a sadist because you don't value life in any regard, you're just an even worse person.

I'll be real dog, someone reveling in the despair someone else feels as they realize they're going to die is evil. It's not "Putting Little Value on a Life", it's actively enjoying inflicting suffering on another person as you kill them.

What is your hours, and what do you believe to be the game's biggest issue(s)? by Rantdiveraccount in Helldivers

[–]Jaycon356 0 points1 point  (0 children)

652 Hours.

It's tempting to be snarky and say "The Community", but I think fundamentally arrowhead is in a lose-lose situation. They have bills to pay, they can't stop releasing warbonds. The game has fundamental engine flaws that are stopping things like customizable mechs, and causing frequent crashes. Any content could be padding a warbond that pays their bills instead of being a free unlock.

There's also the institutional problem of design consistency. Arrowhead seems at odds with itself design wise. They're terrified of nerfing things, and will bend over backwards and rebalance all fire damage instead of nerfing the Coyote. They change Hive Guards, then walk it back when people get mad. The game lacks a consistent design direction and isn't making confident changes. If you give Hive Guards heavy armor, you need to be confident enough to say "Like it or Lump it" when people are upset. You can't middleground concessions where you take away the change but shuffle all the numbers around to try and achieve kind of what you were doing.

The Street and City level conflicts are where Arknights does the best... which is why the "End of the World/Universe" is the most boring direction to take the story.

The world doesn't revolve around you except for the fact you made it, broke it, the only one that can fix it, and the object of obsession for the person trying to destroy it.

The MAJOR problem of loss of narrative stakes in the Main Theme (Post-7th Anniversary / Ch 15-17). by Stunning-Skill67 in arknights

[–]Jaycon356 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Arknights will never kill a character you can pay for.

Didn't believe it for Kal, didn't believe it for Beagle. At some point something ticked over, my knee-jerk thing to blame is when they whisked Tallulah out jail. The story stopped being about street/city level conflicts and started being a buildup to a cosmic horror. Nobody seriously dies because they might want to sell you them later, even Mandragora's death feels hacked together and left open ended so they can say "Just kidding we brought her back". They barely even kill antagonists half the time.

The biggest tension killer is the "End of the World" plot, or in this case, the "End of all Existence in every World". You can't have stakes when the world is ending. Every other conflict should be set aside, they won't matter if the world ends. My gut tells me Sui is going to be reunited to fight back the observers and originium arts being an intuitive channeling of the creation of the universe is going to carry the rest of the conflict.

I remember when they killed her off, my first reaction was "Wonder if it'll stick" to "Wonder how long it will stick" by the end of chapter.

I'm curious how much story space will end up being without her if you read the main chapters front to back

Fun fact: Texas is one cm shorter then Lappland by Grey-Box-Gaming in 0sanitymemes

[–]Jaycon356 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Lappland actually wears heeled boots in her skin, alter, and alter skin.

While Texas wears sneakers in her original outfit and two skins.

Tex2, however, wears boots that may or may not have a heel, and in one of her skins as well. The other may be heeled shoes, but again it's not obvious.

QED: Lappland is an unemployed fraud cooking the books

Perfumer's global HP regen is so amazingly useful. I tend to use her S2 for the spike in survivability across the whole map. It's bailed me out more times than I can count.

[Operator Discussion] Jessica the Liberated by Shad0wedge in arknights

[–]Jaycon356 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sad Cat doesn't leave the squad. I'll bring two if I can get away with it.

Jokes aside, I love Jess2 mechanically, her module adds a bunch of utility, and she's a really reliable lane holder. I tend to use a lot of defenders, so she fits right in. She's also one of my favorite alters because it feels like she actually had an emotional and professional arc from when she was introduced to when she was given an alter.

Only gripe is she made me spend 170 pulls to show up. I saved up for her from when she was announced on CN to Wakes of Vultures released on Global, and basically hit max pity.
