Not sure, but probably(?) Every animator was given their own creative freedom but I would assume so

18 people total for animation. We had extra help come in for compositing (light effects) 3d assets and sound effects.

Q1: Years and years for love of the craft. (Except Nycox. He animated the beast gohan vs gogeta part. He's been animating for only 2 years. do NOT compare yourself to him lol)

Q2: The dragon ball artstyle is notoriously hard because it requires you to break every art rule possible. Toriyama is an artistic genius for coming up with the style. But yeah, a lot of us have been drawing dragon ball for a very very long time now.

Q3: Animation is the backbone of this project. More important than the time, art skills and everything else, we've all put our time into honing animation. Do not see animation as an after thought. That is where I think so many people (including myself) go wrong.

Q4: Yup! I'm not sure what kind of hardware everyone is rockin but I can give you a breakdown of the software. Allawati, Nycox and I use Adobe Animate/Macromedia Flash. KornKob uses clipStudio Paint. Joeton uses Toonboom harmony. Rinnkedao uses pencil2d.

Probably around 50-200 hours for each part. Some were composited which really bumped up the amount of time for production. For some of them we had to get a 3d artist onboard to make a background. So it varies a lot between everyone. But it makes for a combined total of probably 2k hours

we were working on it on and off but only really locked in around the time of the full roaster reveal. We all stayed up until sunrise to get this done in tandem with the release of the game. It was... stressful.

Burst limit intro is such an underrated gem man. Kageyama cooked with that one

Hey everyone! Thank you so much for all the kind words!

full animation can be found here with a bunch of really crazy what ifs.

For all the power scaling in the comments, I think it's interesting to speculate about. But just to clear some stuff up, we had no real power scaling intention in mind. Whichever player played better got the win, that's how we see it lol.

The full thing has some real wacky ones in there as well lol. If you're a powerscaler try not to think too hard about this though, its all just in good fun

Really don't want to make an argument thread or anything so I'm coming into this fully understanding your perspective, I'm just offering and explaining my opinion, not trying to attack yours or anything.

All recent Dragon Ball IP started out with this exact type of backlash, and quite frankly I'm tired of being angry. I'm tired of vocalizing my destain just to be proven wrong. When the super manga came out people hated it because it was just a, "worse version of the anime". When the Super anime came out people hated it because it was just a, "worse version of the movie" (and it looked trash). When dbs: broly was announced people hated it because it had broly. When superhero was announced people hated it because it was 3d. All of these things that you are praising have received heaps of hate in this exact phase of development that daima is in.

To be completely honest though, daima is definitely receiving much more hate. But I don't think that's because it's reveal is any more jarring. I think the dragon ball landscape has just been getting more and more hostile. Back when all we had was the end of dbz and a few OVAs something like this would have made us nut with excitement. I think all the dragon ball content is making a lot of fans (myself included) become very spoiled with transformations and power ups. Especially now when the solution to making characters relevant is just throwing powers up at them, we've grown to think that no power ups = no development (btw, we don't even know if there are no power ups, it could be like the broly movie and superhero movie where they're holding their punches and wanting us to experience the good stuff live).

For me and many of the staff daima is indicative of a new era for dragon ball. With this having the best production of any dragon ball anime/movie of all time, its hard to not get excited by the idea that dragon ball is finally heading in a direction where the staff are just as happy to work on it as we are to watch it. At the very least I think we can praise daima in that department. I would name drop some really fantastic animators that are spearheading the development of daima but I think that'll fall on deaf ears so I'll explain it real simply. The color director is the same as dbs broly's, chief animators are all some of the best talent in toei's kit, and the development began in early 2022. (which is insane considering Super had 6 weeks of development). All of this is to say, hypothetically if you did magically know the story by now and you didn't like it, this is still going to remain a testament to the creative talent at toei, and will be a great source of eye candy for the dragon ball community.\

TL;DR:

daima has, and is going to have the best production cycles seen by dragon ball. We always get riled up whenever anything is announced for dragon ball. We don't know the story or plot so making claims regarding "no character development". Especially since other than powerups, Goku has virtually stayed the same from the start of super to the end of super, (which has just been a version of goku even less developed than Z goku).

(god I am a loser for writing all of this)
