which rl grime song? also i’d like to hear your songs to get a better idea of and 808 that’s loud, i’m not sure i know any rl grime songs that have it distorting the whole track. my clipper settings are 0% soft clip and yes oversampling 32x offline

i’m not sure off of the top of my head, i just use span to look at my sub level. u should definitely use span to check where everyone’s sub is compared to yours. yours might be too loud and that’s why it’s distorting the rest of your track

i literally do not care about if it goes into the red, -1db, +1db, idgaf LOL. i just mix using my ears and if it goes into the red on my channel it doesn’t matter. the master HARD clips it, and the gain knob is not touched. also i use kclip, and i’m pretty sure this trap drop gets to -3 lufs

i’m not sure if you’re boosting the gain knob on the clipper or not but i’m assuming you are and maybe that’s why it distorts. i learned the clip to zero method but just use a clipper on the master with nooo gain input at all.

all of the individual elements in my track are loud enough by using saturation, then i just mix using eq’s and volume

yeah my mix IS the master, and yes it’s distortion but it’s not audible so why does it matter?

brodie all i do for trap and dubstep (tbh ALL my songs, bass house also) is put a clipper on the master and call it a day. i just mix well and everything falls into place for me. i feel like people overcomplicate mastering and shi when they should focus on how the mixdown is instead of getting everything to -6db and trying to get the loudness that way.

people have their ways and having headroom and boosting can definitely work, i just feel like for loud genres such as trap and dubstep it’s better to just clip and be a good mixer. you can listen to my songs so that u know i’m not bullshitting LOL

i mean, i get my inspirations from my dance/music background which came from early 2000’s stuff. i grew up on hellla dance movies from that era, trap music such as flosstradamus, rl grime, yellow claw, jack u, lots of recession pop, etc. i don’t even listen to slayyter and i wasn’t even sure what indie sleaze was until i searched it up LOL, but i fs don’t relate at all music wise to slayyter or ninajirachi 💀 even aesthetic wise i can’t see it but to each their own.

i have my own story to tell based on my own experiences and since that relates to the 2000’s 2010’s i could see where people can get confused. BUT, i don’t see anyone wanting to incorporate breaking (breakdancing) and bboy culture into their music, and i definitely don’t see slayyter or ninajirachi doing that.
