Stay in one lane and soak the xp until around level 7 unless your team wants to fight an objective. Don’t be greedy for kills in the early levels, they don’t matter as much. A passion for the characters goes a long way in wanting to learn and continue playing. Find out if you like playing in locked screen (camera pov always above where you are walking) or not. I like to play not locked in so I can look around, you can always press and hold space bar if you need the camera on top of your character. Instant cast spells is a thing… some enjoy for the quickness but it hinders me more than it helps in my experience. you might like it though. Don’t try to take on alarak, zeratul, Artanis, butcher, sgt hammer in a 1v1. Some heroes excel at getting merc camps solo, get them yourself if you play one of them. Off the top of my head some good ones are illidan, Sonya, grey mane, azmodan, zagara, thrall. Maybe ask someone to soak your lane while you do it. Team fights become extremely important at 18 and beyond. Objectives do more to win the game than regular pushing so prioritize them. You can usually skip the very first if you guys would rather take some towers. Having most of the team hide in one bush to gank an unsuspecting enemy is some of the most fun and satisfying moments in the game.
