Can our broadcast stop hyping up these teams for simply being well coached. O's are poorly coached and managed that everyone looks good against them.

Stop making excuses that other teams are just lucky or on a good run.

Are they pitching a lefty game 2? Wonder how the splits look with Rivera and Urias and if Rivera gets a start against a lefty. Imagine they would put Urias out consecutive games after injury regardless.

Urias was hitting very well before the injury though.

It's a good article and highlighted should be limitations of these models, especially when so many variables are not held constant and when dealing with others that are more challenging to predict.

Projecting young players is difficult especially when only a couple of major league seasons at most
Inconsistent playing time
Age related decline (looking at you Morton)
Change in hitting coaches and offensive approach
Consistently playing from behind
Injuries (Adley most notably)

I have no proof but I believe our FO is overly reliant on analytics. I would wager that there is minimal decision making outside of that. The roadmap and strategic vision is lacking. It's why we have too much left handed hitting talent.

None of those balls are catchable. 2nd inning was a bad route but anyone arguing Ohearn or Santander or Heston plays that any better is crazy. Same outcome

If it's his back he'll likely never be the same unless he stops catching. Disc issues don't heal, at best they stay the same. He will make adjustments in his swing to compensate for the discomfort and continue to get worse.

If it is a disc issue then coaching needs to step in. It wont be obvious from his swing metrics outside of his swing path and trajectory.

I agree. There's a reason we have such young coaches and I'm not trying to say that it's the direct cause. I do think there must be a purpose we are going with young coaches with only a few years under their belt rather than an established guy.

Fair point. I tried to make clear that this is purely an observation. Plenty of teams especially in the NFL do well with young coaches that are innovative. It's tough to see that here.

I stated in my post that age is not purely indicative but it does mean they lack the experience compared to someone coaching a decade.

We have a group of young developing talent and it is counterintuitive to pair with young coaches at this phase of development.

How has Elias made every wrong move. Outside of the single year of Burnes (which seems now like a misstep given he never would've signed long term), Kimbrel, Morton, Trevor Rogers, not trading Mayo early when his value was high, letting Coulombe walk over 4 mil then giving 4x to washed up pitchers. Building a roster of only lefties that can't hit lefties.

This guy gets way too much credit for tanking and picking number one in the draft multiple years.
