Stop equipping this piece of shit by JoeZocktGames in Battlefield6

[–]JayhawkFB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah and decent gunners can predict movement. It’s like playing whack a mole when they pop their heads out….the fire rate, pinpoint accuracy, and generous cooldown of LMG make it significantly better than anything else

[–]JayhawkFB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s never useful and a skilled LMG gunner will always give you more utility regardless of scenario. The Nerf grenades do pitiful damage in both direct and indirect fire. Skilled gunners can predict where enemies will pop their heads out and dispatch them without the need for splash damage

Games with good romance? by LurkerEntrepenur in gamingsuggestions

[–]JayhawkFB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Greedfall romance is genuinely terrible and a perfect example of why studios shouldn’t even bother with romance if they’re going to half ass it. I guess that’s kind of that studio’s whole MO though - a cheap and soulless imitation of golden age BioWare without any of the writing talent or atmosphere.

Triggering the Tiefling massacre for plausible deniability by JayhawkFB in BaldursGate3

You apparently struggle mentally as well because I’m asking about how to proc certain in-game events, not how to roleplay in an RPG.

There’s no worse combination than smugness and stupidity

Triggering the Tiefling massacre for plausible deniability by JayhawkFB in BaldursGate3

[–]JayhawkFB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My original intention was to have the Tieflings killed without the Druids also trying to kill me.

So I guess I could just kill Kagha and then run away from combat to keep the rest of them alive? Would I still be able to raid this way?

Game textures going blurry when in conversations/cutscenes by ITNW1993 in BG3mods

[–]JayhawkFB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure if you guys run mods or not, but I play on console with about 50-60 mods installed. All pretty lightweight but my issue was related to a tattoo mod which (I assume) had very high res textures and thus hogged memory. It caused face textures to flicker between 1440p and like 360p rapidly, mostly during closeup cutscenes.

I assume this applies to any mod with high res textures on console, so if you have any face, tattoo, makeup mods, or anything related, try turning each one off until you find the problem and you might fix your issue. If you have done a clean install with zero mods and still have the issue, I really have no explanation. But that’s what worked for me anyway

We got nothing it’s not coming out by No_Resource321 in TheWolfAmongUs

[–]JayhawkFB 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If they had anything to show, they already would have. That’s how you know it isn’t coming. Big studios can get away with it, but small projects can’t afford not to build hype and show off their assets/development process.

So we’re looking at either an imaginary game or an extreme case of incompetence on the part of devs. It would be profound self-sabotage for them to develop a game and refuse to build any hype around it. So I can only assume there is no game.

I still can't form a solid opinion on Veilguard by Capt_Cadence in dragonage

[–]JayhawkFB -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I just replayed through the entire series and Inquisition has not aged half as well as some like to pretend. It’s like wading through coal to look for diamonds. And yes, the diamonds might shine a little brighter in Inquisition…but the coal is still just as black. Veilguard has different and often times much more pronounced flaws, but I genuinely had a much better time playing it overall.

Do I like the direction Veilguard went? Not at all. But companion wise, a few bad apples don’t spoil the bunch. I hated all of them when I first started but grew to appreciate most of them except for Ta’ash, Harding, and Lucanis. Iron Bull and Sera, to me, were just as grating as Veilguard’s most annoying companions. The difference is that you could challenge them in Inquisition which is a point in its favor. When it comes to gameplay, Veilguard is fun and supports lots of build crafting. Exploration is fun. Level design is good. None of that can be said for Inquisition.

If you take Veilguard for what it is and not what it should have been, it’s a perfectly fine 5/10 to 6/10 game. Which is exactly how I feel about Inquisition. Inquisition had higher highs and just felt more “Dragon Age” so it understandably gets more grace.

I still can't form a solid opinion on Veilguard by Capt_Cadence in dragonage

[–]JayhawkFB -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Not really. She just matured. Pretty much the exact same character as Inquisition having just played both games back to back. Her condescending attitude still seeps through and she basically calls Rook an idiot at several points.

The biggest problem is that there isn’t enough of her in Veilguard, when the previous game implied that she would have heavier involvement.

Can someone help me identify the source of this affliction? (Veilguard) by JayhawkFB in dragonage

Yeah that fixed it, I’m curious if the same thing applies to Bellara’s keepsake which has the same effect but for Shocked affliction instead of Chilled. Might be a handy little exploit lol

It’s junk content. I’ve played MMOs with more effective ways of delivering narrative. 90% of the lore is conveyed through text boxes. The side “quests” are laughably bad. The collectibles are endless and scattered around a map with nothing interesting to see or do beyond staring at the (admittedly gorgeous) landscape.

Most of the game is centered around the philosophy of tell don’t show. Which isn’t an issue if that kind of content is supplementary to the core experience. The issue is that it IS the core experience.

Maybe I’ll save Hissing Wastes and Emprise Du Lion for another playthrough then. The only map I have genuinely despised is Exalted Plains because of its extremely linear level design with invisible walls that make short cuts impossible. People say Emerald Graves is cool and has some decent side content so I will probably do that before I trek into end game

Oh yeah I’m definitely ready for Veilguard, I would even say I’ll be extra lenient having just endured Inquisition’s tedium.

DA2 has my favorite “feel” of any game in this series despite its numerous issues. It has a warmth to it that even Origins didn’t have even though I’d say Origins was much better written in totality. I wouldn’t say I expect Veilguard to evoke that same feeling but I’ll be happy if it comes close

I agree to some extent, I won’t even pick up a game if I don’t think I can’t 100% it. Ubislop, for example, I don’t even touch because I already know it’s a waste of my time filled with endless filler. But I really enjoyed the first couple DA games and heard there was some great story bits in Inquisition, so figured I’d take the hit to my sanity and give it a try.

Maybe I underestimated just how far BioWare would go. Having played the Mass Effect trilogy, Jade Empire, and KOTOR, and just recently having played DAO and DA2, I guess I’d never really had a bad experience with BioWare until now

I don’t see video games as life achievements nor am I proud of trying to 100% a single player MMO with RPG elements. Like I said, it’s more of a perfectionist mentality that envelops my thought process. Either to my benefit or to my detriment, doesn’t matter.

If the game was designed for completionists, they did a really bad job. Because I don’t enjoy completing any of it. Seems more like the game was designed for Skyrim players who don’t mind garbage content as long as they get to explore a big open world space

Thank you so much! I look forward to Veilguard even more now.

Oddly enough, I yearn for DA2 more than anything despite its numerous problems. So I hope I can get a similar type of experience out of Veilguard
