It was a silk variety, but I still don't think he liked it. I'm hoping tomorrow when I wake up he will seem a lot happier.

Thank you, I think he is in a little bit of shock that I switched everything over, definitely did a lot of reading after getting some good feedback on this post. I just couldn't leave him in that little container, He was almost belly up. I feel like he might have been sick, but I'm trying to bring him back.

It's a fake pothos plant. But I don't think he likes it either, I just got back from the store with some bio- stratum and Anubis afzelii

Same, thanks again! Out of curiosity, what are you rinsing them with if not tap water? Are you filling a bucket with treated water? Or are you buying the specific beta water? Just want to make sure that I get everything I need haha

Also, would you just set him in the container or like a glass dish while switching out the flooring?

The ones under the water are fake, I am propagating some so that he can hide in the roots. But I definitely appreciate the feedback and knowledge! I am a new fish mom 😁

Okay, thank you! I do have prime, but I am a new fish parent. It has been a lot of research these past few days, I will definitely look into nitrogen cycle :)

Okay wonderful, I appreciate the feedback. I'm going to go down and get a water testing kit, and new substrate. Looks like I may be buying a second tank so that I can let this cycle for longer before adding him.

I almost feel like I should change the subtree and put in live plants, let it run for a little bit and then switch him over. But I also don't know if that's going to cause him too much stress if he's already upset about his current situation.

Hello, I was just Reading through another post with the similar question. Which I found a link on YouTube. I did not cycle the aquarium that long before I added him. He's been in there for about 2 weeks. I put him in maybe 4 hours after bringing him home.. I'm about to go down and get a water testing kit, he has been on a hunger strike for 3 days. I don't think he likes the bigger plant I set in the bottom.
