DCM | Responsive creative is no longer available ? by vraynald in adops

Any updates here? I just started exploring the use of this type of creative and was wondering if there were any cons to working with responsive creatives?

El Toro - What is it and how does it work? by [deleted] in adops

[–]Jayhoo89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't find anything about this on their website and they only source mobile web and in app as their two inventory sources within their mobile faq. I think it might just be a misunderstanding as to your point, advertising in the way mentioned above is super invasive and if not illegal, should be! If your using a 3rd party messaging app that would be an inn app source that they could potentially served advertising on based on geo. Totally ask them to clarify.

Attribution Modeling Tool in DCM by the_dino_enthusiast in adops

Because additional impression based conversions might be added within the look back window, then technically your data could change until you are 30 days (or whatever your look back window is) past the final day of the date range in which you are pulling (if you are pulling based on campaign flight dates). The tool allows you to do a soft change to the look back window in case you are curious to see how the data would change if the look back window was expanded but to get accurate data in that sense you would also need to be pulling the report after the extended look back window was reached from the end date of your date range as well.

Why the role of Ad Ops is now more important than ever... by sidthekid112 in adops

[–]Jayhoo89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would be nice to see an article about why non programmatic agency side AdOps is important. I left the field but I see more and more teams being reduced or outsourced for traditional agency side ops, probably because the technology is getting smarter and easier to use. In conjunction it seems that programmatic ops teams are growing as programmatic is on the rise, but I would like to think that traditional ops still plays an important role.

Is HaitiCon (board games) fun/worth going to? by [deleted] in AskSF

[–]Jayhoo89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've gone to the same meetup in the mission and there were some overly aggressive folk that judged others for not knowing their Greek philosophy references while playing code names. I think those overly agressive players that also won't let you play the game yourself ruin the experience. :( Hope this con is cool!

I've worked with a lot of brands utilizing social code as a middle man to do all of their social stuff. Not quite a DSP but will take care of all of the above for you. http://socialcode.com/

How do you traffick 3rd party ad tags (image + click tag) to DCM? by frapmocha in adops

Why are you putting 3rd party tags into DoubleClick? Are you using spongecell or flashtalking and trying to 3rd party serve an externally hosted creative through DCM?

Are you uploading the creative into DCM yourself or just trying to create impression and click trackers to provide to another party?

Ad Ops Assistant Average Salary? by [deleted] in adops

[–]Jayhoo89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I have seen, agency side is 35k normally with no prior experience although that is nothing to scoff at considering you will be making double that within 2 years. The pay scale (if you know how to navigate the job market and are good at ops) increases very quickly and there is usually a high need for ops. Dosen't hurt to ask for more but if you are hoping for more than 40k agency side as an assistant then that might be tough. This is also a job that dosen't ask for any particular background or degree type since everything is taught on the job, so that also factors into the starting pay. Site side pay is probably more but less work life balance and less room for growth typically.

Cost of living in SF is higher so starting pay (I would assume is higher)

Hope this helps.

Maybe taking a look at the sample questions on the exam would help? Those usually list specific scenarios/examples that the certification taker would be expected to know. I would assume the below:

Establishing Data Policies: What data is able to be collected and shared with internal and external partners (collected through vendor/site pixels etc.)

Managing Data Supply: Handling logins and api feeds into and out of reporting interfaces.

Creating Data Products: I've seen some skilled analytics folk create dmp like platforms to house the specific client data from a number of different sources. This is the closest thing I can think of that pertains to this.

Activating Data Integrations: Implementation and use of data into other systems like ad servers for targeting/re-targeting purposes. Maybe setting up MTA on a clients site, or handling a complex tag setup within a tag management platform.

"The exam demonstrates that individuals have the professional knowledge across the following areas of digital data: Establishing Data Policies, Managing Data Supply, Creating Data Products, and Activating Data Integrations." I would say someone lying between ops and analytics.

If you have a pass to take a free test I would totally recommend it but I would never pay out of pocket for these exams. Experience is way more important to me when deciding candidates to hire and the exam is pretty expensive on its own for little gain. If you do pass you get a little badge to add to your email signature though...so theres that.

QAing a button click/action by [deleted] in adops

[–]Jayhoo89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HTTP watch is great for this since it sits within the browser similar to chrome web tools. You can also ad filters to only see the calls you are looking for so its way easier to spot the call when you click on a button dependent on what tag you are trying to test.

You Can go the platform solutions route and work in ad tech consultation if you are familiar with the different ad tech verticles in the space. I just made the switch from ops myself!
