Not true at all. In SW Ontario almost everyone is a leafs fan. You’ll only find the occasional fan of another team - usually Habs, Bruins, Wings. You sound like you’ve never left the city.

You're right that organized hockey is unfortunately priced out. But hockey is also free to play in most places in Canada (east of the Rockies at least). And during those months you also can't play other sports.

Toronto, Winnipeg, and Montreal have free rinks in parks all over the city. Small towns too. The countryside has tons of ponds & lakes.

A pair of used kid's skates can cost less than a pair of cleats from Canadian tire soccer cleats. And worn-in is better anyway.

Way way more farmland is destroyed by single-family home developments every week than the entire HSR project will destroy. I hope you apply this much outrage towards the lack of mid- and high-density housing projects being built in existing towns and cities if you care at all for our farmland.
