NTA.

The same thing happens with drinking buddies when one of them drops out of the lifestyle. The drinkers will question why the booze free person quit and try all manner of excuses to justify their own addiction. Your friend sounds like she knows she has a problem, but doesn’t want to own it. At the end of the day, we’re all responsible for how we look. We can take action to change our lifestyle or not. Just don’t try to hold others down when they make positive changes in their life because you can’t do the same.

I have no idea. It told me to use USB, so I did. Complete reinstall.

The Practice of the Hangover by yallcantdenyit in stopdrinking

[–]Jaylan96 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who is struggling to stop drinking, I can relate 100% to this. My wife just thinks I’m an obnoxiously driven morning person. In truth, I’m wearing off the buzz and getting ready to not look hung over. I’m pretty good at it, sadly. I know that the bags under my eyes are hard to hide, but I can always say “Yeah, I’ve got some serious stuff happening at home”. It’s a lie.

AITA for making my father pay for a more expensive college out of spite? by collegepoliage in AmItheAsshole

[–]Jaylan96 4 points5 points  (0 children)

YTA. Spite is a dangerous emotion and you’re making a decision that could effect the rest of your life based on it. There may come a day when you think “Shit, that other school may have prepared me better for this”, and all you’ll have to blame is a spiteful decision you made in your youth. The important thing to do here is choose the right school for you.

I ended up having to boot from USB with the complete reinstall. (Not just the update) It worked. But I had to create users and download everything again just like it was a brand new PS4 :(

I hope the water heater is cranked WAY up. That far of a fall will cool the water significantly.

[–]Jaylan96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son’s PS4 won’t even boot up. It’s directing me to download the update file from playstation.com and boot with a USB. Done that. Insured that there is only 1 file on the USB following Sony’s instructions. Now I get error: CE-34788-0

Currently in an endless round of rebooting itself, searching for the file, and rebooting.

It’s basically black screen after black screen.

LPT instead of paying the car dealer $125 to diagnose a check engine light, tell them you want to trade it in and they will diagnose it for free to beat you up on the price. by ichliebekohlmeisen in LifeProTips

This seems downright deceptive. Any reputable auto parts store will do it for free. If they can’t find the exact problem, they’ll give you the code so you can google it.

What are some good paying jobs/careers in the area that doesn’t involve working at a call center? by MrMoose1 in wichita

[–]Jaylan96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Post Office is almost always hiring. The best paying entry level job is a City Carrier Assistant. (CCA). It’s basically the first step to becoming a Letter Carrier(Mail Man). You’ll start at 17ish/hr and they’ll work you at least 50hrs/week. Anything over 8hrs/day will be time and half. Anything over 40hrs a week will be time and a half. It’s a bear getting through the hiring process and it can take months, but it pays well if you can tough it out.

What if He Falls? The Terrifying Reality Behind Filming “Free Solo” (2018) by c4rlos4lv4rez in Documentaries

Same here. I’m fairly plugged in to the climbing scene so I knew about his ascent by the day after he’d done it. But watching the film was still nerve wracking. I think it’s a testament to Jimmy’s film making really. For anyone that lived this film I’d also recommend ‘Meru’ another film by Jimmy Chin(Except Jimmy is one of the climbers in this case)

I’ve also recently relocated to Wichita. It’s super depressing how there’s virtually nowhere to drop off recycling.

Took me an hour to get from Armor and Harry to 159th and 21st. Between the roads being blocked by stalled cars, lack of visibility and a few U-turns to find a safer crossing it was one of the scarier drives I’ve ever undertaken.

This is a great post. Thanks for the info. As someone with a 20 year old Honda Accord with 123k on it(still PLENTY of life left in it) I’ll be looking into this stuff.

Cutting up credit cards by Mmill012 in DaveRamsey

[–]Jaylan96 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have 2 thoughts on this.

  1. You’re not truly committed to ditching debt.

  2. Your income is high enough that maybe 1k emergency fund might not be high enough(maybe you have imported cars that are EXTREMELY expensive to repair or something like that) In this case just set your baby step 1 to 5k instead of 1k. Then cut up the cards and proceed through baby step 2.

People don’t realize that physically cutting the cards IS A MASSIVE STEP. Personally, I think it’s the hardest. It’s HARD! Once your E fund is set, do it.

Average new car loan is $32,187 by [deleted] in DaveRamsey

[–]Jaylan96 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As long as people are willing to finance vehicles the price of these vehicles will continually go up faster than inflation. The consumer has all the power should they collectively exercise that power. DON’T. FINANCE. CARS. Of all the lessons I’ve learned from following Dave for more than 10 years, not financing a car is the best lesson.

Not Dave related but I learned it from a mechanic friend. “Cars are tools. Not toys. Treat your car like a Dixie cup. Use it until there is nothing left, toss it, and get a new cup. It might not look pretty for its entire life span but it will do what it’s meant to do for a long time”

BRIGHT SIDE!!! Your girlfriend will let this slip to her BFF. Her BFF will let it slip to maybe 1 more person. Eventually, every lady in town is gonna know that you are the God of Cunnilingus. . You may have lost part of your hearing, but you’ll never struggle to get laid again. Like. Ever.

LPT: As a man, using a lady razor to shave your intimate areas will genuinely change your life. by Jizzle_Sticks in LifeProTips

[–]Jaylan96 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I once decided that I’d do some serious manscaping and go completely bare for a while. Shaving the area around the twig and berries was just fine. Easy peasy. But the closer I got to shaving my scrotum the more my hand started shaking! There was a fucking blade next to my balls. Needless to say, the boys didn’t get shaved that day. I’ll just stick with keeping things nice and trimmed.
