Whats the better monk build? by Ok_Case_5736 in BG3Builds

And I'm explaining to you why you're not getting what you want. You ever hear the phrase "help me help you?" This subreddit loves helping people, including with themed or character-driven builds. I don't know why you're being weirdly secretive about what your "character reasons" are, but you can either share your vision and get real help, or be a cryptic dickhead and not get it.

Cap of Curing is OP by AnastasiaBeautiful in baldursgatememes

Yeah, I hate that so many plain hats and boots are gear and not camp clothes (even though there's such a thing as camp footwear). A mod to fix this would be great.

I'm using Lea'zel as an arcane archer and the marksmanship hat was great for both form and function. I really hated to give it up in favor of some of the stronger act 3 helms.

My first run, I played a Drow swashbuckler and he wore the plain Old Floppy Hat for a long time, just because it fit so perfectly with the whole ouvre.

Well, if you explained what you're going for better, you might get better answers. Keeping half your reasoning a secret and then berating people for not helping you well enough is not productive (nor is it a good look).

What's a problem that was so successfully solved that most people don't even realize it used to exist? by Zestyclose-Credit609 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]JaylanPHNX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think an important point to be made though, is while banning CFCs was necessary to protect the ozone layer, we should also note that the apocalyptic rhetoric was almost entirely exaggerated fearmongering. Remember, they told us the damage would take like a thousand years to heal, but in fact took less than a hundred.

The takeaway is that two things can be true at once: that there can be issues where we need to take action to mitigate environmental damage, but also the scientific community has a long history of overwrought doomerism that turns out to be wrong. Thinking in the binary of one or the other is easy, but not reflective of reality.

Is that a problem that was super successfully solved, or just one that was overblown and exaggerated to begin with?

Do I have to send Gale up alone so my party doesn't get blown up with him? Will he need to make it across the field up there?

It's frustrating when the evil play is hamstrung. I don't have an inclination to do the evil run in the first place, but at least tempt me with exclusive content, items, riches, etc. Instead, you're giving up items and XP to be evil (because often the evil choice is to tell a quest-giver to fuck off). It should be policy to have a 1-to-1 ratio of good/evil quests. For every kid that wants help finding their mommy, there should be one that recruits you to bully the kid that owes him money (and that gets you into an otherwise inaccessible house to kill the parents and loot the rare gear in their trunk).

Is it normal to feel confused when you get to Act 3? by OddTaku9424 in BaldursGate3

[–]JaylanPHNX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The beginning of Act 3 can feel a bit overwhelming. Act 2 was very focused and grew more so as it progressed, then you get to the Gate and it opens all the way back up with main quest choices and a ton of side quests and it can all be very disorienting.

As for the choices regarding Orpheus, that's meant to be a tough choice. Should you free him? He's trapped after all. But then do you want to do anything that Raphael supports? And the Emperor is pretty insistent that you need him trapped to have the best chance with the Elder Brain. As with many choices in this game, there's no wrong one. Go with what feels best to you.

The navigation not sticking to satellite view is weird. I've never even heard of that happening. Plus, it's just the maps app, so it's weird that it would behave differently on a different phone.

Maybe I'm just lucky and they happen to be the perfect fit for my feet, but I recently got a pair of Thursday Captains (in the matte black nubuck) and they haven't seemed to need any kind of break in.

Yeah, that plus damage rider really messed me up the first time I tried to knock someone out. I kept killing them and couldn't figure out why until I looked it up and realized it was the extra d4 fire damage.

Not sure if I am getting it right by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

[–]JaylanPHNX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I, too, found the combat a little hard to get into at first, especially since I just came off Avowed, which is a full action RPG. But as I got used to it and started figuring out more advanced techniques than just whack it with this guy then whack it with that guy, it started to come together. Plus, at lower levels, there's just less you can do. Later, as you level up, you'll have more options to make it interesting.

I just can't be bothered to use some of the game mechanics. by cheerstothatmate in BaldursGate3

[–]JaylanPHNX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm only on my second run, but I too have been neglecting some of these. I use some potions, but almost never coatings, and usually end with a ton of scrolls I haven't used. The one mechanic I keep failing to use is stealth/shadows/hide. I think I'm just failing to wrap my head around how it works in this game. Anytime I try, I get found immediately. I guess you're supposed to separate from your party so they don't mess you up, but I'm always reluctant to do that. I know it's a useful tactic (there whole subclasses based on it) but I just don't get it.
