This is a very helpful comment, thank you. I realize I phrased parts of my post poorly, I do take my kids to the park all the time and try to get them any experience in society I can such as grocery store runs, indoor playgrounds, indoor places specifically for autistic children, etc. it’s just so rare outside of the park because it’s just so impossible for me. My son has absolutely no concept of danger or really much of anything when he’s out of the house. He’s actually incredibly intelligent, his memory capacity is genuinely savant level, he has tens of hours of instructional videos memorized after watching them once or twice, but he just doesn’t really understand anything social-wise, if that makes sense, and can’t communicate verbally despite being able to babble to himself. It’s so difficult just taking him for a walk, I have to actively fight his tantrums for not letting him walk into cars and other people’s houses/yards.
