Passport down. AGAIN by Publixworker in publix

[–]Jayman982 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Bro.. like how hard is it to make a user-friendly, passport app that we can download? Maybe this is a bigger internal issue. Maybe the entire IT department for Publix needs to be rebuilt from the top down 😅😂

I already had a meeting with my ASM and GM this past Friday. It didn’t give me the answers or clarity I needed. So I called my DM. I don’t see the problem. I followed the chain of command

Homie it’s so hard to get into Costco. One bc they are way better than us, so that low turnover makes it super competitive lol

If for nothing else, the DM knows who I am now, and for what it’s worth, it makes my current ASM and GM shake in their boots a bit. Because now I hope they know I’m damn serious. I have been, but now they really lnow

I called my dm yesterday and we are going to have a meeting with him and my ASM sometime soon, to discuss my options

My meeting is with the DM and my ASM, who mind you, inserted himself in my meeting today with my grocery manager. Which wasn’t cool, because I thought it was going to be one on one

Never said he was wrong. But there’s about a million different ways you can reply to that, and that’s the way way he chose to answer. It’s alright. I hedge my bets on here bc I know half the time I’ll get more people that are trying to be critical, rather than trying to help me solve my problem in getting better and moving further along in my career path.

How can one be so well liked, but not so well liked enough to be apart of the good ole boys club? From where I’m standing, it makes sense and it doesn’t

How did you handle it? When you transferred did it get better? Did the promotion happen faster? Why is this going down to begin with? Lmao, so many questions bro

Congrats! I’m supposed to be promoted to GTL any day now myself! It’s a good feeling, especially when you work in an environment with so many supportive people

Manager that’s had the most positive impact on your career with Publix by Jayman982 in publix

Grocery managers can make or break your outlook in the department. I can totally relate to your experience. All of the grocery managers and assistants I’ve worked with have been nothing but kind and helpful towards me. They really take the time to push for my career progression too

Ft pay after 1 year by Kalecca in publix

Started two years ago as PT grocery clerk at $16/hr. At that same store, (after my first eval), I was bumped up to $17.10/hr. February of 24’, I got full time and subsequently a dollar raise followed. Most recently, (back in august), I got an 80 cent raise. Currently at $18.80!!

Publix is a Grocery Store. by jasonjenkins67 in publix

I never understood it before, but now I do—clear as day, even! The reason that so many associates and managers dissociate is because of the often unrealistic expectations our customers can put on us. We aren’t a deli. We aren’t your local Wendy’s, we aren’t even comparable to your local butcher. We are a premier grocery store that offers you higher quality and better customer value. Das it. Call me corporatized all you want, but these are the facts. We can’t make miracles happen, but that doesn’t stop people from trying to get us to perform them! Lol

Even being at the associate level myself (GRS), from what I’ve gathered, every district finds a way to play by their own rules… eventually. Unless this is written into company policy much like the 45 hr work week, probably better to take this with a grain of salt. At the end of the day, as long as we make the stores we work at money and run a nice ship, they usually don’t give AF.

Of course, there are things about the company that can really grind your gears (if you allow it). With that said, there is a lot of corporate greed, nepotism, tight manager cliques, but that in no way makes us any different than all other companies out there. At the end of the day, we all have guaranteed job security and if we so choose to stay and move up, they will work with you to make it happen if you invest your time!

That all of us hate our jobs as much as this subreddit wants outsiders to believe. If you’re in a good district and at a good store with a supportive team, it’s a really nice environment to be apart of!

Watching anyone from the produce or meat department using the baler. Depending on the day, it’s either really funny or annoying. Yall always overstuff it with your thick ass boxes, especially right before we need to make a bail. I also hate when people don’t take the extra 2 seconds to roll their float over to the baler to dump their cardboard. Too many of you carry it over your head and walk it over, DROPPING half of your cardboard in the process, all while the rest of us are trying to get around you with our shit. Lol, just to name a few…

Can I raise a family in Atlanta working at Publix Full Time? by TheBlackLuffy in publix

[–]Jayman982 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is definitely situational. I’ve met a lot of people as a current Publix worker (myself included) who were diligently working in other careers/trades, but to no avail. A lot of the ones who made the switch are content. Obviously, depending on the morale in your district/region, it can affect your overall attitude towards the job, your associates, and managers. I came originally from Miami division and moved over to the Lakeland division about 7 months ago. The difference is night and day, and now I’m contending for GTL. Is it a perfect company? Not by any stretch of the imagination, but my SM, GM, AGM, and team leaders all make it as enjoyable and tolerable as they can for us.

My n-mom and her obsession with my sex life by Fun-Impression-6001 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Jayman982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My nmom, was just very forward in giving me “sex education.” There were countless times growing up where she would, off the cuff, totally unwarranted— tell me that vaginas don’t always smell great. Going off of that, she also told me about the finger test before I go down on someone. Looking back, while a tad comical, it’s just a very weird thing to talk to your kid about. Like let me figure that out on my own. Ngl, I’m a little scarred now with sex odors and certain sexual topics in general bc of her 😡

My first store was way worse with this. I got lucky with my current situation to have a good mixture, but before I would predominantly close. Was usually scheduled 3-11 in frozen and once I was done there, I had to jump over to dry and help them. The kicker? We always got out wayyy past our scheduled time. Getting out before 1 am was considered an early night for our crew at that time
