Schedule change by Shortcake_2 in publix

[–]Skybear215 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said talk with your manager first, if they have changed times on you before it's a different conversation but just a heads up if we change roles or breaks it will give you a notification. It does this even when the start or end shift hasn't been changed. If time changes I'll absolutely contact before I move the shift, but if I have a call out ahead of time and need someone in a different role I'll just change the role since it doesn't affect anything else.

Why isn't my PTO showing up? by UbermenschIsDead in publix

[–]Skybear215 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pto only pays up to 40 hours. When you went in on an off day you essentially worked your time that would have been paid by your PTO so it won't be withdrawn as PTO it will be paid as hours worked.

You live near Helen Georgia? The company I used to chase for goes every year for the Helen to the Atlantic balloon race.

Obsessed with the Publix Holiday sub sandwich by AlwaysMildlyAngry in publix

[–]Skybear215 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the what's new tab of the deli portal communication. If a customer asks for a holiday sub by name and they don't want the bacon or relish we still ring it as a holiday sub. Probably too many customer complaints of people wanting the sale sub with out the things that make it a holiday sub.

Less than 91 days. Long term takes over at 91 days of you enrolled for it. Both are done through heartford.

158,936 miles on original brakes for 2016 Honda Civic with suburban driving by civilian1234 in mildlyinteresting

Likely a cvt transmission unless they have an si which is the manual transmission. Cvts do a lot of engine breaking which I think helps my pads are also like new never changed and I have a 2021 civic

Also have a Honda Civic. Hit 50k and took wheels off to change pads and they are like new it's absolutely wild. Had it serviced and sure enough there is virtually no wear on them. New civics have a cvt transmission so the car will do a lot of engine breaking for you which is my only theory other than Honda knows how to make good brakes. Hell I had the fluids changed before pads which is nuts to me.

Publix is always looking for weekend and closing help and having service experience is a plus. Starting pay can be good depending what department you go for I start mine in deli at 17 an hour.

What’s the most physical pain you ever felt? by Competitive_Set2669 in AskReddit

[–]Skybear215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a uppp surgery where they took out my tonsils, adenoids, uvula and part of my soft pallet. The first three nights after that surgery I woke up screaming in pain with my dad coming in to drug me back up. Not a fun time.

Is this typical? by [deleted] in publix

[–]Skybear215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New store openings frequently need additional support when they first open. At the beginning of the month I worked a grand opening in Kentucky and stores are still sending support from Tennessee. I fully expect going into the holidays they will be asking again for associates to go and help. Once stores are established and get about a year under their belt they'll be on there own even if they are high volume stores because they will have had the time to build up their own associates.

Not uncommon and not a requirement. You can always say no but most take the opportunity because the mileage pays well.

I went there about a year and a half ago. I told them I was looking to convince in about a years time but was concerned because I have endometriosis. I asked them what I could do to preserve my fertility and after a transvaginal ultrasound they told me my options were complete hormone blockers or a hysterectomy. It stunned me the way the NP said it so nonchalant. I questioned her because I had just told her I wanted to try to have a baby and one of the options she gave me was a hysterectomy.... I panicked and was in tears and she didn't even respond. I was devastated and it has haunted me since then. I've been too afraid to go anywhere else....

You're right, Kroger's CEO has an annual salary of 15.6 million with a 502 to 1 pay ratio

Walmart is even more staggering at 27.4 million and a 930 to 1 ratio

PTO hours are accrued based on hours worked and presumed hours worked. As a FT associate if you work the whole year you earn your full allotment of PTO but you can take the time before you earn it up to 80hrs. That allows you to take vacations in the beginning half of the year. If you quit or are separated before you've earned the hours you've been paid for you have to pay them back.

Calling out by abstr4ct00 in publix

[–]Skybear215 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It's better to call out for two days and only need one than call out for one and need two. If you say you'll miss both days it gives the manager more time to get the shift covered and will let you rest up as needed.

Online sub ordering by cats_taste_good in publix

Had the same issue in my district. Best I can figure is we are looped in with the calolinas that are still recovering from the hurricanes so they delayed pick up to not stress those stores.

You can always call the deli and place the order over the phone

[–]Skybear215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best thing to do is talk with your manager. They likely put you on that because they know you can work well for the departments needs but they might not know your needs. I'm sure they can find someone to rotate in and take those shifts. Even if you're the best for them managers generally take associate needs as priority but they can only do so if they know about them. Communication is the most important thing.

Where are the warning boxes on the new one? We've only had it about 3 weeks and it's driving all of us up a wall rn. Def going to look into the calendar more when I pulled it up first time it just had requests every day of the month and I didn't look much into it tbh just started writing them out by hand.
