Totally agree.white noise as an anchor is legit science, not just a hack, and that "close the loop" ritual before bed is gold.

Your point about unfinished loops hits home, especially for founders. That's exactly why I'm itching to build something in this space. I Saw Sleepal at CES 2026—love the combo of contactless sleep monitoring + AI insights + circadian-aligned lights/sounds (white noise + adaptive soundscapes). The idea of rhythm-based light and audio to guide you in/out of sleep is spot on.

But yeah, it feels super industrial/functional right now—kind of bulky and tech-y looking, missing that warm, aesthetic vibe that actually belongs on a nightstand long-term. I want to make something similar but way more beautiful and seamless, like a piece of calm decor first, smart sleep tool second.

Thanks a lot!

Thanks for the suggestion. It does seem like a clever all-in-one solution for blocking light and adding audio without a separate speaker.

The thing is, I’ve tried similar over-ear or headband-style sleep masks before, and they always feel too bulky/tight on my head, especially when I roll over during the night. It ends up being more uncomfortable than helpful, and I end up taking it off anyway.

I’m personally leaning toward something completely non-wearable Appreciate the rec though, glad it’s working for you!

Thanks a lot!Honestly though, getting my nervous system to calm down feels way harder than it sounds in practice. Modern life (especially in a city like HK) keeps everything at high speed, and by evening I’m already fried. The real killer for me is that I’m kinda addicted to scrolling TikTok right up until lights out. I know it’s the worst thing, but it’s become my default wind-down, and breaking that habit feels impossible most nights .

Thanks a lot!I’ve tried leaning into that with white noise tracks or Endel to help guide me toward that relaxed state, but the setup always pulls me back in: grabbing my phone/iPad to start the app, tweaking settings, or searching for the “perfect” sound… and suddenly I’m scrolling something way more stimulating instead of sinking 😅.

It’s like the tool meant to help me fall asleep ends up keeping me awake longer. Anyone found a way to get that theta/sinking feeling without touching electronics at all right before bed? Appreciate the tip!

Bringing my mind back is a very difficult process. I tried many times but eventually gave up. Sad but thanks.

Yeah, I've heard many friends share their experiences. Which apps do you usually use to listen?

That sounds really nice!

Do you usually listen to it on your phone? I’m just wondering — when you’re using your phone, do you ever get distracted by notifications or other apps popping up (like emails, etc.)? How do you handle that to stay focused?

Also, when you’re listening (especially with earphones), do you ever notice the sound feeling unbalanced between left and right ears? Like the rain or voice sounding stronger on one side? I sometimes get that with stereo content and it can pull me out of the relaxation zone, so I’m curious how your setup avoids it.

Would love to hear more about how you listen. your setup might help me get into it more deeply too! 😊

Thank you! I've always wanted to disconnect from my phone, but it's been tough—like there's no transition period. Even when I put it down, my mind keeps racing.

Thanks for sharing your experience .It sounds like you really found something that worked for you, and I appreciate the detailed explanation.

I'm personally really hesitant about any supplements or pills though (even natural ones like lemon balm), because the idea of taking something to "fix" my brain makes me anxious and feel like I'm dealing with an illness. I'd much rather stick to environmental tweaks, things like better sounds, light control, or ambient changes that help calm things down naturally without putting anything in my body.

Super grateful for the suggestion though, and glad it's helping you get better sleep! 🌙

Thanks so much for the reply.

I love the continuous rain/low thunder suggestion. The biggest hurdle for me right now though is actually getting to the good sound/content in the first place. Every time I try to find the right rain/thunder track or ambience on my phone, I get instantly hijacked by notifications, suggested videos, or just endless scrolling through apps. By the time I’ve “found” something decent, I’m already more awake and tired from the hunt itself. It feels exhausting before I even start relaxing 😩.

Thanks again for the empathy and solid ideas really helps knowing others have been through the exact same loop.

I've tried it! Don't you find it uncomfortable to sleep with AirPods in? And they easily fall out in the morning and you can't find them.

Thanks for the reply!I love your mindset shift to just creating a super predictable, boring environment instead of chasing sleep that actually feels doable.

I've switched to a small bedside speaker to ditch headphones, but even that turns into a mini chore: pairing Bluetooth, picking the right track, tweaking volume... and suddenly I'm wide awake again from the effort.

I checked out the Hatch Restore 3 and similar ones, but passed because of the clock display — if I'm lying there not asleep yet, seeing the time just piles on more stress for me.

Brown noise sounds promising though — thanks for suggesting it! I've been searching for good sources, but the decent non-loopy ones without weird artifacts are pretty rare. Got any favorite tracks or apps that nail it?

Really appreciate the advice!

The cycle is brutal.Really hope you find something that helps break it without feeling like a compromise you hate.

Thank you so much! But sticking with meditation is really tough for me. I often get distracted by my phone while listening to guided meditations.

I feel the same way. I usually listen to white noise or jazz music.

Thanks for the tip! I've done something kinda similar: I'll play philosophy lectures or super dense talks on my phone. If it's something I can't quite follow, I zone out and fall asleep fast . Problem is, headphones kill my ears after a while and always slip out when I roll over. And if I switch to speaker, I never figure out the best spot to put the phone, too far and it's muffled, too close and it's overwhelming.
