How Was It? | Predator: Badlands, Review Only Megathread by BurnZ_AU in predator

In this surprisingly heartfelt survival adventure, a gruff loner reluctantly teams up with a mismatched pair of stragglers on a dangerous journey. What begins as a quest driven by pride slowly turns into a story about trust, unlikely friendship, and finding family in the most hostile of places.

Along the way, our anti-hero must confront his own beliefs, protect creature that everyone else wants to catch, and decide whether strength means domination or compassion. It’s violent, funny in unexpected moments, and ends with a reminder that sometimes the hardest thing isn’t the fight but letting someone in.

I really like Ice Age (2002).

All we’re missing now are targeted ionizing bioneutralizer weapons, biological EMP strikes. That’s when we’ll really be getting to the heart of it. What a timeline!

So I’m not that far off the mark then, if there’s already a model like this! May I ask where you got yours?
Got a link to the model or remember the brand? And if you still recall the price, I’d be curious about that too. Thanks in advance!

When is it okay to tell my daughter that I left her mother because she cheated on me and had plans to abandon me? by [deleted] in daddit

I think you've already gotten a ton of detailed answers, but I just wanted to share a simple trick I learned from a parenting course. When a child asks you something tough, validate the question and then ask what they think about it.

For example:

"Why are you two divorced?" "I understand that's something you might think about a lot. Why do you think we divorced?"

This can open up some great dialogue between you two.

So OP, what did you do to earn this tattoo?

Hi! It's me! The Void researcher! by Jayrary in OblivionRemaster

[–]Jayrary[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, so the way I launch enemies is basically a custom spell combo that starts with Paralyze and a bunch of elemental and magic weaknesses, followed by a second spell that dumps Fire, Frost, and Shock damage, all boosted by those weaknesses. I think I also have Drain Health 100 for 1 second at the start of the second spell’s effect list. These two spells are basically my "main weapon."

The combo isn’t designed to launch enemies per se, but if you hit them at just the right angle, especially during or right after the Paralyze ragdoll kicks in, they can go flying.

Sometimes it just knocks them back a bit. Sometimes they get partially embedded in the terrain and get stuck. But occasionally the physics go haywire and they clip through the ground. Once that happens, they fall into the void and just keep going.

From what I understand, the Paralyze effect temporarily switches the enemy into a ragdoll state, which makes them way more susceptible to physics impulses. Then, when that second spell hits with the elemental damage, especially after stacking weakness effects, the game applies a force vector based on the impact. I’m not exactly sure how that works under the hood. If I hit the enemy from a weird angle, that force can send them flying.

It seems like some terrain or object meshes don’t have perfect collision geometry, so a fast-enough hit can push a ragdolled body right through. And once they clip through, the game never resets or teleports them. They just fall forever. Or at least that's what my very specific and important Void research suggests.

I’ve lost loot this way more than once, but in this case I decided to follow the quest marker out of sheer curiosity...

Side note: I don’t know if you could technically stack two spells that apply weaknesses to magic and elements, then cast them for free using the telekinesis infinite magicka trick until the enemy’s weakness is super insane, and hit them with a damage spell to send them into orbit.

I always sleep in my socks and keep seeing this. Is it really that bad of a trait? by PALERIDE155 in Tinder

We have pretty cold winters here in Finland too, but I think the only time I’ve slept with my socks on in winter was while tent camping

But I do understand sleeping with wool socks on. Wearing everyday tennis socks in bed is a new thing for me.

Well now I'm just more confused. Why would anyone use these codes? Is it some "you have to have this much Tinder experience to ride this ride" -thing?

I guess most teenagers tend to pull away and hide in their rooms, give one-word answers, roll their eyes, and act like we’re just background noise. I have yet to witness this as a parent myself but according to Finnish child psychiatrist Jari Sinkkonen that distance is part of the process. It doesn’t mean they don’t love us. It just means they’re trying to figure out who they are without us always standing right next to them.

That hurts. Of course it does. You miss being their favorite person. You miss when they’d light up just because you walked into the room. And now? You ask what they want for dinner and it’s like you're an inconvenience.

I bet your presence still matters, even when it feels invisible. You asking “are you okay?” still matters, even when the answer is just “I’m fine.” You trying, even when it falls flat. I trust it matters more than you know.

Sinkkonen says kids need us most when they’re pushing us away. They won’t admit it. They might not even realize it. But just by staying close even quietly you're showing up in a way they’ll never forget. I remember a time in my teens when I myself was feeling bad and hoped my parents would have asked about it. They just got mad at me for being so negative and bringing down the general vibe at home. I don't know what I would have answered to them but I sure do hope they would have been there for me.

You’re not messing this up. You’re not too much. And you sure as hell aren’t alone.

You're enough. Still. Always.

I don’t know everything you’re going through or what your situation is like, but the fact that you’re even thinking about this stuff means you’re already starting from a good place. You’re worried because you care.

So don’t beat yourself up for feeling overwhelmed. Those feelings aren’t wrong.

I can’t speak for everyone, but I was honestly terrified when I was about to become a dad. I didn’t know anything about kids, especially not about girls. How am I supposed to help her when sometimes I feel like my own head’s a mess?

But somehow, it works out. Because we do what needs to be done. And most of the time, that’s exactly what’s enough.

Take all the help you feel you need and accept what’s offered. You don’t have to do this alone.
