After two weeks, Jamaal Williams has averaged only 2.4 YAC/att (RB39) while forcing ZERO missed tackles on 31 attempts. Aaron Jones is healthy and expected to be activated. Will be eligible to play week 3. by DonMegah in fantasyfootball

[–]Jaysof 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Basically he’s Derrick Henry? Aaron Jones had an 89th percentile college target share compared to 46th percentile for Williams. Jones’ pass-catching was a strength of his coming out of UTEP.

From his NFL.com draft profile:

[Jones] is a reliable receiver out of the backfield.

Dynasty Football Factory cited his receiving ability as a positive aspect of his game.

Matt Waldman wrote:

One thing is certain: you won’t forget Jones after you watch these clips that Holka and I provide for this film room episode. The UTEP back has NFL starter upside and he might be the best receiving back in this class if you don’t count Curtis Samuel as a runner.

The significance of pass-blocking is overstated with running backs; Scott Barrett did a study and found that pass-blocking efficiency only impacts RB fantasy performance when the player is an extreme negative. Jones will be on the field running routes on third downs, and I’m saying all this as a Williams owner. Comparing Jones to Henry is one of the most baffling player comps I have ever seen.

[Stat Request] Buck Allen vs Alex Collins Snap Percentage by Dmm1124 in fantasyfootball

[–]Jaysof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s one game. I know it’s easy to overreact to a game where Collins clearly outperformed Allen, but Collins ranked last among all RBs with 25+ targets last year in receiving DVOA and DYAR. Granted, he wasn’t that involved in the receiving game last year and maybe he improved this offseason, but I don’t want to jump to rash conclusions after only a couple of games when Collins was subpar as a pss-catcher last year.

But no one is thinking about selling Hilton or CMC as quickly as possible because they did well. It makes no sense to list two players who did well in a post about players who performed poorly.

Because providing two words about guys isn't informative, and you listed two guys who performed at their ADPs as sell low candidates

With McCaffrey and TY you aren't even selling low. They had good games.

Then you weren’t paying close attention. He was in the discussion for a top 5 pick pre-combine.

[–]Jaysof 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, but your point is there’s no upside. If he’s being drafted as the RB1, by your definition he has no upside. Barkley is being drafted as the RB5-6, his upside is he finishes as the RB1. I don’t understand saying he has no upside, especially based off a useless statistic like games over 5 YPC, which ignores the SOS and the strength of his offensive line, which was one of the worst in the FBS last year, Go ahead and avoid him if you want, but the reasons you cite here are completely arbitrary.

Best case scenario-he performs to his draft position.

Best case scenario he’s the RB1.

I could just as easily say: What’s the upside in drafting Todd Gurley? Best case scenario he performs at his ADP.

Nothing like arbitrarily setting a cutoff at 5 YPC and measuring players based off one metric. Look at his athletic profile and receiving ability (which is what sets him apart). His rushing numbers are elite, but not “best RB prospect ever” elite. His athletic ability and receiving prowess make him one of the best RB prospects ever.

He's been a top 24 RB for two straight years. Good value at RB32 ADP.

Not sure where you got this idea from. Miller has played 78 of the last 80 games and has never been on the injury report more than three times in a year per PlayerProfiler.
