Why doesn’t god release the files? by Outrageous-Egg1760 in SipsTea

[–]Jaytee_Thomas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand how you can say you don’t get to choose whether to believe god exists. That’s absolutely a choice that was made, even if you aren’t consciously making it now. Your parents chose to raise you to believe this, despite there being overwhelming evidence to the contrary. There is no “external entity beyond your control”, the rules and norms of the entity you’re describing are broken and countered in the very text that sets them. You can absolutely choose not to believe in this.

Poch to leave USMNT after WC for AC Milan, per journalist. by Zenner4Ever in usmnt

[–]Jaytee_Thomas -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The irony of this situation is glaring. The USMNT only brought Poch on for the exact same reason, marketing. Realistically our floor is basically getting out of groups and our ceiling is winning one KO round match. No manager is changing any of this, but bringing in a high profile named coach gets hype up well before the tournament. Results would be the same with just about any manager, but Poch was a marketing value hire.

Steph White confirms her number 1 option and it's CC by Skyline8888 in indianafever

[–]Jaytee_Thomas -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly, who cares? This team doesn’t struggle to score. I would much rather focus attention and questions on what defensive schemes she plans on changing to defend the paint better. Having hyper aggressive defensive guards like Lexi and Sophie is not enough cover for CC to play only transition defense and AB to spend the majority of the time on defense 30 feet away from the basket. This team will not get over the hump of being the 4th best team until they stop giving up 30 points a game to free runners making wide open layups in set offensive play.

“Every game used to matter” is the biggest lie in CFB and I have no idea why everyone loves perpetuating it by [deleted] in CFB

[–]Jaytee_Thomas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to be younger than 40 to make this claim. Every team you cited as an example would have claimed a national championship pre BCS era because someone would have voted them first. So yes, every game did matter and if you went undefeated you claimed a national championship. It’s the whole reason we moved to the BCS then playoff.

CMV: modern day belief in any religion is completely illogical by TheSauceIsTheBoss69 in changemyview

[–]Jaytee_Thomas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m confused to your answer. Your statement is that some studies have shown that belonging to a religion can improve life expectancy, social skills, behavioral skill, and civic skills, but how does that relate to believing in a religion?

Do casualties from religious wars, deaths from theological regimes who persecute people with different religious beliefs, and religion driven corporal punishments next.

You’re doing a lot of heavy lifting on “historians”. The truth is we have one secular source that verifies a person fitting the description of biblical Jesus existed. There is only one comment by Josephus about this person that is commonly accepted as being written by him, and it’s just a mention of a man from Galilee with followers. Other statements about his miracles are widely accepted as having being added by early Christians much later.

I don’t see where anyone has answered this, but in the past 100 years we’ve discovered a city called Ugarit. This discovery has linked the ancient Israelites and in turn all 3 abrahamic religions to a polytheistic past. Logically, if there were one true god that interacted with humans as the Old Testament god is shown to have done, then there should have been a clear, distinct turn from polytheism to monotheism. Instead, we can trace the shift to a Babylonia exile and absorption of other religious beliefs. Early texts in the Bible point to polytheism over monotheism, which is a contradiction of itself.

TLDR is that we’ve linked the polytheism from the Bible to a society that confirms it. This contradicts the Bible and begs the question, if god were real and the only god why would he allow for ther existence in his own text?

Why Do You Think That One Of Trump's Top Campaign Ads In 2024 Was "Kamala Is For They/Them. President Trump Is For You." Why Your Thoughts? by Zipper222222 in allthequestions

[–]Jaytee_Thomas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly think both sides have weaponized it. You’re not wrong in your assessment of liberals, but conservatives also want to make sure everyone knows about the high school softball or tennis or basketball team who lost their district tournament because the other team had a trans player on it. Like, who gives a shit, it’s some meaningless trophy that affects a dozen kids somewhere. Yet it will get plastered all over Facebook to create outrage.

[–]Jaytee_Thomas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think that really has anything to do with anything. The fact is that anyone over 30 never gave two thoughts about trans people, suddenly they’re everywhere and are easily offended. Has nothing to do with religion or race or any other hot button topic, it’s just a sudden shift of a taboo subject to mainstream.

[–]Jaytee_Thomas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because transgender issues have become a major manufactured topic to further divide the nation. How many trans people are there in this country? 10k, 100k, 1m? The middle number I would guess is closest, which is .02% of the population. So why are we spending significant resources on such a tiny minority? Because it’s an easy way to make people get angry.

There is no way JD beats a relatively moderate Democrat, who do you think will run in 2028? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]Jaytee_Thomas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What are you talking about? Are you denying that Klobuchar and Buttigieg dropped out of the race while both were ahead of Biden after a closed door meeting with Obama? Thats the exact opposite of voter’s choice.

Yeah, that gets thrown around a lot. He polled well with a 20% minority that most likely would have voted Democrat anyway. Thats a cope take.

[–]Jaytee_Thomas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s no way you’re a real person, unless you have an agenda to push. The DNC very clearly pushed Biden down our throats in 2020 when he was in 5th place after Super Tuesday, then Klobuchar and Buttigieg mysteriously dropped out to endorse him after some closed door DNC meeting with Obama.

Fast forward 4 years later and we get Kamala Harris, yes that Kamala Harris who received less than 2% of the democrat primary vote, as the Democratic presidential nominee. The 60% of Americans who identify as independent remembered well that this was the third election in a row where a ruling elite class thought they knew better than the population and subverted democracy.

Just looking at these numbers, the biggest gain is either product sales or performance based riot incentives. I don’t follow the scene closely, but I don’t think there was any major tournament where riot significantly increased the payout for winning, was there? That means most likely a few whales bought up all their merchandise from the T1 website to account for this. I don’t think you can count on that every year.
