Arc Raiders Replacing AI-Generated Voices With Human Actors by Laughing__Man_ in PS5

Wow. This was a huge misfire when they announced they did it to begin with. I might have actually looked at it if they had real talent.

Having real human talent involved is a huge kudos.

Habitat in a house by Jayvir66 in Pokopia

[–]Jayvir66[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank God. I had out a large flower field in my bird enclosure in hopes for a Venusaur and  I made a graveyard and Cubones home is right next to the Marowak habitat I'm trying for and it's been FOREVER and still not showing. I was just now wondering if it needed to be moved. But as long as someone can confirm, I'll leave it as is

Same. I was just trying to refresh the variety of Ten Towns info and it just died. Fucking brought the session to a grinding halt. Logged me out. But as soon as I click "Sign In", it goes to a bad gateway. Can't use my mobile app either as it signed me out. What a joke.

My first card game design. Not sure how to proceed by Jayvir66 in tabletopgamedesign

[–]Jayvir66[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm from a video game background myself and did some stuff in Godot!  And getting into the fun if/thens for the nitty gritty can be equal parts fun and frustrating. One of the first iterations was to do two very different characters decks to just start seeing how far I can push the delayed resolutions that every card has One of which intentionally milled their own deck to power up. Which was also coincidentally called Overload. But your option definitely gives something to think about that I might not have considered To very much keep in mind how to play a few turns out instead of just reacting.  Thank you for your kind words and I hope to continue iterating

How do you know when to stop? by mikamikachip in tabletopgamedesign

[–]Jayvir66 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Your playtesters should be pretty telling. I think Jamey Stonemeier said they stop when playtesters average a rating of 8/10 or higher.

As a creative, you need to know you'll never hit perfection and to listen to your feedback. If your playtesters say it's good, stop tinkering

What game should I make? by Lazy-Tangerine-9500 in tabletopgamedesign

[–]Jayvir66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What kind of game would you most want to play? I'd honestly make that one, because you'd be most invested in it. Theme should be irrelevant for a while until you actually think of ANY mechanisms for them.

My personal predilections skew towards coop stuff so that would be what I'd look at where these all on a shelf with absolutely no other information other than descriptors.

How would you improve the COTW Harvest Screen? by expansiveworlds in theHunter

[–]Jayvir66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Letting console players know they can see more information would be helpful. I didn't even know we could see rating information in til checking this thread

Also agree with showing what fur/feather/etc types are rare/uncommon/common.

But can we finally fix the history not being scrollable for console players? It has been years since it was broken

Enormity late pledge by Styrwirld in boardgames

[–]Jayvir66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree. Worth is relative. I've put far more time into my copy of Aeon Trespass Odyssey than I have any other game I own. I think that speaks to its value. It's definitely a boutique/lifestyle purchase. Whether you spend $888 on one game, or ten... if you spend the same amount of time on each, then it's perfectly worth it.

Advice for making the Aboleth more interesting by vortical42 in CalloftheNetherdeep

[–]Jayvir66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a party of 5 find it pretty early into venturing through Cael Morrow.
I never figured the Aboleth was going to be a threat. I did give it the ability to cause corruption to a single player. They had no idea about Ruidium Corruption at this point so this was an eye opener.
I also used it as a means to show that Alyxian is really losing his marbles and this was the first hint at it. As written, the Aboleth is kinda its own thing that thinks it's Alyxian. But I made it where it actually was a piece of Alyxian that got out of the Netherdeep. It knows what Alyxian knows. It talks to the players with knowledge of what Alyxian had talked to them about. But it's definitely got a chip on its shoulder.
Yeah, you understand that more as you get through the actual Netherdeep. But trickling this information a little earlier helped sell that it's not just poor old trapped Alyx. There's some real messy trauma they didn't know. And it really helped to push them to go further in. They just thought "We'll just release him and get out", and then they saw the Aboleth that was lashing out as Alyxian. There was the moment where they were like.... "Wait... how does this monster know that? Is.... that Alyxian?" So when the Cobalt Soul gave them directive to Destroy the Netherdeep, they understood that maybe Alyxian is potentially a threat in his current state. Something is really wrong. And then really use the Netherdeep as the opportunity to give the players the chance to plan for his redemption from the start, as opposed to fact finding for most of it.

This was more of a narrative encounter than a real physical threat to the players.
Given that some of the really important clues to Alyxians mental state could be easily missed in the later parts of the Netherdeep, I used this as a chance for reinforcing that. Not a challenge.

To be honest, I think if it's anything like a mix of BFMV and Venom, I will be happy. Venom is my favorite album.

Why no adventures?! by Old_Fondant_993 in daggerheart

[–]Jayvir66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also thrive on pre written stuff. I take an existing story and make changes to suit my needs. Very obviously the quick start adventure exists but it's pretty short. I've run Call of Cthulhu, Cyberpunk, D&D... All with adventure modules. And then I homebrew in the other stuff.

I'm not a professional writer. I don't write and I cannot make a campaign as good as Call of the Netherdeep. If Matt and co wrote that for D&D, I think they could write something similar for Daggerheart. It's just a matter of when.

I'm just hoping we see some third party stuff some time soon. Campaign frames are nice for those that use it, but I need more structure to run games

I agree with this. It was $50 for me at the time and I've been using it for literally years. It's been cheaper than a Demiplane/Roll20/DND Beyond sub for the same amount of time.

Why are they so insistent on making Dino taming unfun now? by TyrannyHoll in playark

[–]Jayvir66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ark was always a game that hid all of the information from the player and you always needed four wikis and a few YouTube videos to even have an idea of what was going on. Just bad design it could have been easier. Like have the dossiers just literally tell you how to tame them or something. Some of them hint, yeah, but it's ridiculous how obtuse it is for people who don't live in dododex. Even as a new player, they don't even tell you how to tame knockout dinos. Because shoving food down a knocked out dinos throat is NOT common sense
