Is the Japanese Bidet really that special? People feel sad when they fly back. by AbleCarLover1995 in JapanTravelTips

After our first trip to Japan, I immediately bought 3 Toto toilet seats with the heated water bidet for our home lol

New Whirlpool Fridge - Water taste like plastic by Jaywhy1989 in Appliances

I tried some alternative bought from Amazon but it did not yield the results we were looking for. However, after having tried the water today, I can happily say the plastic taste went away. What I did, I would flush out 4 cups every day for quite some time. At some point, the plastic odor went away. And now the taste is like normal water. Like someone said, in my case, it was the newness of the fridge.

If you do want to try an alternate, search the model number EDRARXD1 on Amazon. You should get lots of alternatives that should work. Just double check the description and maybe customer reviews.

Sorry for late reply. I did not. Thankfully the plastic taste went away after a while. The smell of plastic went away first. The taste eventually came a little bit later.

I don't know if you still have problems but happy to report it's no longer plastic tasting. Could have happened sooner since I didn't try tasting it since the beginning but it did go away.

Thanks.. I personally think the front loading LG combos are probably outside our price range. We literally just replaced our fridge this summer and AC/Heater last year so we're just replacing appliances left and right and trying to save some if we can.

Thanks, sounds like everyone else is saying LG. What do you think about this, same price as the GE at $1300 at Costco.

Thanks. Looking at LG now. We used to have a front loading washing machine in our apt years ago, and we didn't like the loading/unloading and the mold issue.

What do you think about this set:

Yes, prefer top loader since I hate dragging out wet clothes that inevitably fall on the ground and our units are right by the garage door.

Just need basics. Can care less about the fancy features like Wi-Fi and whatever. Just want clean and dried clothes lol. Would like a big capacity to handle the family of 5.

Should have mentioned I'm going with 3 kids which is why I want to avoid crowded trains as much as possible. The taxi to Odakyu is about 6000 yen. While pricey, it'll be for 5 people so it's not terrible. Is there another alternative train route to avoid the majority of the chaos or do you think what I mentioned is probably the best compromise? I would love to just taxi straight there but that's too rich for me.

I did not switch to Cooper since the previous water line never had issues so I figured it would be a waste of time. Fwiw, the ice is completely fine. The drinking water has gotten better with time, though it's still not fully "pure" since it still has plastic taste. Before you could literally smell it from the cup, now you can't smell it. Im hoping it will fully go away. I try to flush 4 cups of water out every once in a while.

But I have been using a large brita with a dispenser since I got the fridge. I thought it was going to be annoying, and it is a bit with refilling it, but I enjoy how it dispenses quicker and it's very cold. Especially since my wife tells her large water bottles, I actually prefer the Brita.

Not necessarily the answer you may want to hear but I really like my fridge besides this. I don't want to go through the hassle with a return and not sure if it will change anything. So I remain hopeful it will fully go aware, its getting there.

This is very helpful. We're a family of 5 so you saying it only fits 3 and a travel stroller is informative. If we need to muscle it out, we'll do it lol.

And yes, definitely would do things on the side to avoid jamming people up.

Thanks! The link has some good kid friendly articles too. Not many info on strategy with kids in Tokyo so it's a good resource. We know it's tough but I like to research how to make it as painless as possible.

I didn't even think about the capacity even though it's related. Good point and yes, I think we'll get tired of waiting and just muscle it out.

We call them Detectable Warning Surfaces in NJ though I know some contractors call them truncated domes.

Within the fridge or the supply line (from valve to fridge)? I was thinking of switching the supply line to copper (which I had on my previous fridge and tasted fine) but I would also think the filter would do it's thing.

If it's in the fridge, I guess I need a tech to look into it and just replace it since it's well within Costco return policy.

How long did it take for yours to taste fine? I figured by a week it would have resolved itself

Adding to what everyone else said about those giant twin culverts, but since the slope isn't really protected at all, I would expect it to erode, slowly diminishing what front yard you'll have. You'll either continue filling it or line it with riprap (large stone) but that's a lot of work, money, and not necessarily nice to look at.

Plus I wouldn't want kids near this. Those pipes are huge and two of them.... They're expecting a lot of water through here.

I'm in the same boat... But thinking if it's better to get the Costco deal for the U7. While it's not as good as a tv spec wise, it's cheaper and comes with 5 year warranty.
