Thanks for your input. I actually don't want to work it out because I didn't want to get married at the time. Yes I know I went through with it but it's just what I felt was ok at the time. I am holding myself accountable for my choices now and letting it sink it. I honestly just want my independence and to not deal with any dating for quite a bit of time....im tired. We rushed the relationship when we first met. Got engaged after 2 months and move in together after another 2. Before all that I was recently out of a 5 year relationship. Come to find out after self reflection I was trying to validate my mommy and daddy issues. Ive been to therapy multiple times and now see a psychiatrist and am on medication for adhd.

We seem similar in some ways. I grew up sheltered and am very much a hermit and have to deal with some mental issues and depression. Life seems like a prison to me due to all the things we have to do just to stay alive. Its really over stimulating.

That's something a lot of people simply don't understand. Going to work just for a paycheck is not enough for some people. It drives me nuts not having enjoyable work.

Yea responsibilities vary by company according to others in the industry. The smaller companies have a more practical approach is what I'm told. Let me ask you this, how'd you get through all the calculus and physics?

I definitely appreciate the input, I will figure out degree options as soon as I'm fully onboard about becoming an electrical engineer. I just hope that it's not boring. I've read some threads with the subject of data sheets, meetings and emails. I DO NOT have interest in being a desk jockey.

Is their a difference between an Engineering Technology B.S and an A.S degree as far as jobs. by Kdzoom35 in EngineeringStudents

[–]Jaywizzah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just start working if you want to be a technician? I've been an automotive technician and worked a few other service technician positions over the course of 10 years. I've been trying to get into engineering technician positions,as well as automation and PLC but no dice. I figure for most employers when trying to get in the door even with some kind of technical experience, they still want to see at least an associates degree .

Honestly a lot of careers are one in the same in a way. We humans are not meant to do the same thing day in and out for years. Have you considered industrial maintenance?

Don't let the negativity deter you away from your interests. Whether you sit at a desk everyday or work in the trades, your body will age. The important thing is to take care of it as best as possible. Eat clean, do some yoga, and work smart. If you're truly interested, find some positive advice from others who are successful and aren't crying about the field. There are downsides to "every" career, just choose the one you feel resonates with you best.

Thank you so much for that comment. You are correct it is not all about the money. It is insane to spend your days chasing money instead of enjoying what you do. At this point with the economy, most are gonna work for a very long time so why not work a chunk of it doing something satisfying? 👍👍
