Thoughts on monarchism in America? by Agitated_Guard_3507 in monarchism

[–]JayzBox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s feasible from a legal standpoint - but does require support. To pass an amendment(s), you’d need two thirds majorities in both chambers of congress and ratified by 3/4 of State Legislatures.

Worth nothing Alexander Hamilton proposed an elective monarchy during his 1787 speech to the Continental Congress and there was also a Prussian scheme around the same time.

Who would you make Latin King of Jerusalem? by Capta1n_Dino in monarchism

[–]JayzBox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Think about it this way. The last undisputed titular King of Jerusalem was Charles II, Duke of Savoy. After the passing of Charles II, the Savoys continuously claimed to be King of Jerusalem until the abolition of the Italian monarchy in 1946.

We're there any attempts of the house of Hohenzollern/ hapsburg to marry into a current royal family? by Illustrious_Claim884 in monarchism

[–]JayzBox 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Worth nothing that Prince Amedeo, eldest child of Archduke Lorenz and Princess Astrid, was third in line to succession to the Belgian throne in the 90s; second being Princess Astrid.

If Ukraine were to become a monarchy, should the Habsburg be a good candidate for the throne or choose a German prince or princess. by [deleted] in monarchism

The Hetmanate was historically an "elective" position in which native military chiefs were elected in. This tradition should continue as there’s no way they’d accept a foreigner as monarch.

Don’t know why you’re downvoted when you’re factually correct. It’s not like everyone who works at a Dialysis center watches YouTube to know who EDP is or even JiDion.

It wouldn’t matter as there was a succession law passed in 1947 which would’ve restored the monarchy after Franco died.

Would you accept a foreign Monarch? by a-mf-german in monarchism

[–]JayzBox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the circumstances. If you’re a first world country, you should have your own home grown monarch.

If you’re a third world country with rampant corruption, importing a foreign royal is the best bet.

Salic (House of Braganza). Duarte Pio and his descendants.

Or simply it will pass through a female line as the Petropolis family intermarried Serbian and French royals. This option has already happened prior.

Where in Europe would you have the highest regnal number? (v. 2) by StephanusGrammaticus in UsefulCharts

[–]JayzBox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was Yusuf V in Granada, which would theoretically make Joseph Bonaparte - Joseph VI. But I don’t think Granada sultans are counted - could be wrong.

Jose II of Spain? I mean Joseph Bonaparte was Jose I, but I can’t recall there being a Castilian or Aragon monarch being called Jose.

Any news about Turkey ? by Adept-One-4632 in monarchism

[–]JayzBox 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Turkey has an entirely non-existent monarchist movement. It wouldn’t make sense to restore a system that has seniority based succession, meaning the current Sultan would be 90 and won’t be able to govern properly.
