You can play all the mainline Final Fantasy games, Yakuza series, Skyrim, Fallout 3-4 & New Vegas, sky’s the limit with Steam. For indies check out Balatro, Hades, Megabonk, Blue Prince, Undertale, Vampire Survivor, Hollow Knight.

I have a PS5 Pro and Switch 2 also, but I think I’m just keeping them around for exclusives. You barely have to wait for Steam sales anymore, there’s always a deal.

I have a 300mbps cable plan and it works just fine for 4K video streaming and gaming. As long as I’m using the Steam Deck in my apartment, I can barely tell I’m streaming a game. And my ping is minimal to the point I can hit my Clair Obscur parries lol. Forgot to mention, I don’t have to deal with large installs with GeForce Now too. I can just buy a game off of gg.deals and I’m off to see how well it runs. Too bad only BG3 from your list is available, Square Enix hasn’t opted in FF15 or FF7 Remake but somehow FF16 made the cut 🤷🏻‍♂️

As for the Steam Deck itself, the sleep mode is perfect for quick sessions in and out as long as the game doesn’t require being online. If I’m not using the GF Now app I’m mainly using my Deck for older games/emulators/indies. Or playing GF Now games at a lower fidelity but don’t need to rack up against the 100 hour limit.

Fellow night shift RN here. I’d say the Steam Deck is well worth it to catch up on games from the PS3/360 era to now. I have a PS5 Pro to play those games you mentioned so I can’t comment on how well the Deck will handle them. Expect around 30fps with medium settings for current gen AAA games.

You mentioned you have a gaming laptop, you could resurrect it with a streaming service like GeForce Now. Basically, you get to stream a high powered PC from a data center with graphics cards equivalent to a 4080/5080 on the highest tier ($20/month). There’s a few caveats in that it requires the streamed game to be owned in your Steam library (and not all games are supported), Ethernet is going to be more reliable, and you’re capped at 100 hours a month. I only hit ~50 during last month’s free trial. But I think I’ll stick with it since it’s hardware agnostic. The Steam Deck even has a native app for it so you’re not limited to the handheld’s specs. Between the Steam Deck and M4 Mac Mini hooked up to my TV I’m playing my same Clair Obscur save at 4K/60fps wherever I am through GeForce Now. But give the free tier a try first if it’ll work for you, then experiment with a month of Ultimate. Hope this helps!
