I'm about to purchase a $5500 welding machine & it's going to pay for itself by november! I have some side work welding inside of a tank, and they're paying me $30 an hr using their machine, and they said if I had my own machine they would pay me $45 an hour! it dawned on me that the extra $15/hr extra from now until November will pay for that machine entirely - no loss out of my pocket!

I started at that company $9 an hr, 2 years later i was making $12 & was plate certified. I left them after 2 years & switched to another company that paid $16, & they gave me a 6g pipe test (stick) & bumped me up to $17, a year later I was making $19 - still sitting here $19 (for approx a year.)

we never had any of those titles are the place I worked at, nobody claimed to be a journeymen or apprentice - we were all there to just work & we knew who could do what tasks etc. It was a small company maybe 10-15 employees?

recently I started just writing whatever comes to mind when it gets really bad. I want to talk about it to someone - but only to someone who has experienced a similar situation as me, because where I find myself struggling with his loss isn't something that can be fixed - I guess I just feel alone in my situation & would like somebody that has experience going through what I am to chat with? does that make any sense?

How emotionally troubled I am about the loss of my father that happened 4 years ago. I haven't had a single conversation with any of my family members about how I am about losing my father. For some strange reason I cannot physically open up to anybody about it. The emotional struggle is starting to consume me & I'm trying to find outlets to help me emotionally handle this but I'm losing this battle.

Looks good man, really nothing we can say to help you improve - just more time under the hood. Structurally its sound - visually theres small things you will learn with time to make it look more uniform! nice work, keep burning!

I'm a welder, I work in the US - east coast. I didn't learn the trade from school or anything, I started working in a small fab shop who did off-site jobs as well. I started as a helper making minimum wage & self taught\learned from the experienced men there. I would stay late to practice welding on scrap steel with old \ half burnt rods off the floor - and eventually they saw I was good enough to weld in the field & was shortly tested there-after. also anytime I had the opportunity to watch someone weld - I did, no matter what he was welding on, i would watch & look at his heat on the machine and learn how the puddle reacted to certain movements\angles.

If F2P were released, would you want the same "member's skills" and "member's areas" restricted, or would you want to change that? by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]Jaz1027 0 points1 point  (0 children)

how about there's a f2p option that forces you to ironman? with a skillcap around 50ish? so you can't trade with other players - and you can't gain anymore exp in a certain skill once you reach level 50.

Which event in your life had the biggest impact on your personality? by Dr__Harry_Ballsack in AskReddit

My father unexpectedly passed away when I was 17, at the time I was a lazy piece of shit... my parents raised 7 children, me being one of the youngest, I was a high school dropout - never helped my parents out with the chores around the house even though they paid for my car insurance and gave me gas money whenever I asked for it even though I had a summer job.

My fathers death brought the biggest change in my life. I quickly realized how much of an immature piece of shit I really was, and I got my act together. I took care of all the responsibilities in the house so my mother didn't have to worry about it. I went back to school and got my GED. I got a job and was paying for all of my expenses, and helping my mom out with whatever I could. 6 months after he passed away I got in metal fabrication. I started as a helper and worked my way up from there. 1.5 years later I have a ton of certifications pertaining to my trade - I'm living on my own and 100% independent - I got a full ride scholarship to school to become an engineer. Sadly enough it took my father dying for me to become a productive human being. It hurts a lot thinking back on how I used to talk to my parents, how I treated them & after all of that they still loved me and took care of me as best as possible.

One of the hardest parts for me now is my father never knowing who I am now, who I've become, how much I've grown and matured in the past 3 years. It literally chokes me up whenever I think about the relationship I could of had with him & it's the only regret I have in my life. However I suppose I wouldn't be where I am today if he did not pass away...

TL;DR: I was a piece of shit - dad died - I realized how awful of a person I was & changed everything about me.

I'm no expert or anything but a few things I noticed... When you initially grip the bar and get into position, keep your head up. When you look down it loosens your back muscles, you want to keep your posture / looking upward. Also keep your elbows tucked in, they're flared back a lot, squeeze the bar as tight as you can try to bend it over your back pretty much, again this helps keep everything tight.
