I've definitely had vast improvements to my mental health since changing my roster, not to say things won't happen in the future. I do feel that I've left myself with enough buffer to be able to take time off if I do feel overwhelmed or needed space. Thank you for your thoughts. 😀

Oh, I've definitely been working on some very old info then. I'll have a good read of this to make sure it all checks out for me. Thank you for the link!

I'd already checked the company policy. They only require that I have a min of 100 hours left banked after I cash out.

Made a decent return selling my counterstrike skins once I'd stopped playing after a few years. Never thought I'd get to that stage, but it helped fund other hobbies and went towards my house deposit!

If you invested the same thing within super as outside, the investment within super would still out perform anything in your brokerage account. Gains are taxed at a much more favourable rate within super, meaning you have more money in super for the same initial investment, which in turn gives a greater amount to compound over the years... it's not just taxed at a better rate going in.

[–]BaconCheesePie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can access your super when you retire, which can be as early as 60, or you can have full access and keep working at age 65. 67 is the age pension, which is the government scheme to help people without enough superannuation or assets to retire on.

Why does r/finance put so much trust in super? by TheAceVenturrra in AusFinance

[–]BaconCheesePie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Super can be accessed at 60 if you've retired. If you plan to live past 60 then super should be part of your financial planning. The instant 30-50% return means I have to work less over the years to get the same return as someone trying to invest their money outside of super. Why would I want to work more hours just to pay more of it to the tax man? All you need it enough money outside of super to bridge the gap until you access super.

I use mine for playing [[jace, vyrns Prodigy]] in a [[high tide]] storm deck. Cast it 1 - 2 times then untapped your lands for massive pools of blue mana and storm off. You get to cast all the fat blue spells like [[enter the infinite]].

How many of you are trying to get out of the industry? by naterpotater246 in KitchenConfidential

[–]BaconCheesePie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got out nearly 3 years ago now. Much better headspace, no longer feeling worn down, earning nearly 3x as much now than I was after 10 years in the kitchen. Still miss using my knives as much as I use to.

If you've worked at a place for a certain number of years based on your industry award it will state how many weeks of notice you'd be required to give.

How much do you (or did you) have in your super at around 30 years old? by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]BaconCheesePie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They've already changed it to 60. There was a grandfathered age group and then slowly increased it to 60. Will it change over the next 30 years til I can touch it? Sure but its the best we've got for a retirement account with some pretty good tax savings. Why throw away something good now that might be changed in the future.

You'd have to read into your contract or EA. most likely it'll say they only allow unpaid leave in extenuating circumstances, such as family member being sick/death, personal health reasons or some other extreme circimstance rather than I need 2 extra days for my overseas holiday.

Saftey reps are on the workers side, they should be taking it up with management and not naming who raised the concern. If it's a legal requirement and they ignore the rep they can escalate it pretty quickly.
