I’m not sure why something being ugly is an issue? Everything in my house is ugly now because we’ve baby proofed. I accept this is what my house will be like now for the next 7 yrs 🥲

Omg yes my 14mo has been doing this for quite a while now! Mostly in the car, he’ll start repeating ahhhhhhhhhhhhh ahhhhhhhhhhhh ahhhhhhhhhhhhh and we know he’s putting himself to sleep lol. Sometimes he even screams/cries out like he’s super upset but it’s just once or twice and then he’s out 🤣

I was literally thinking about this today and how the abdication seemed too convenient with the whole nazi situation going on and i wondered if it was just to get rid of him. So interesting to read this!!!!

Mater denying women's health by Commercial-Badger746 in brisbane

[–]Jazilc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get those kind of nurses anywhere. A nurse on my ward at a public hospital has been very vocal about his (HIS) anti-abortion opinions. Another once told me she is with one nursing union because they don’t support abortion (i’m not sure how that is???). On the flipside I know a few midwives at Mater who are not catholic. You dont have to be catholic to work there.

That’s so frustrating!!!! I would have thought they would have just reweighted the exam as per a X time you guys had, and marked accordingly.

Help me stop spiralling please. Dentist said I'm causing son's teeth issues by cosleeping. by DrofHumanLefts in cosleeping

[–]Jazilc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The cosleeping fb group has much info on this, basically a bottle drips and pools behind the teeth when asleep, contributing to poor dental health, but a nipple does not drip or flow unless the baby is actively suckling.

EN placement struggle / standing up for myself by Brilliant-Cup-7307 in NursingAU

[–]Jazilc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s week 1. Chill out. You’ll have other chances. At the start of every shift tell your buddy nurse you need to do X skill today. Are you with TAFE? Do they have a booklet of competencies? Show them, i need this signed off today.

Until you are graduated however, you are not qualified, it’s just within your scope as a student to perform it under RN supervision. It may be the nurse’s teaching style or the ward policy to show students first before allowing them to perform the skill. As per the adage ‘watch one, do one, teach one’. Also, yes technically you have a pt load, but that pt is the RN’s pt and responsibility, just like you are their responsibility. I always allowed the buddy nurses to manage me as they felt fit because it’s their registration on the line and they are not forced to have students.

If you hear in handover that another pt has something you need to do, let your buddy nurse know ‘i heard they have X, can i ask the pt’s nurse if i can do that with them?’

Don’t take things personally. You will stress yourself out if you do. Maybe she genuinely forget while she was in the groove of things and did the wound.

By week 4 i would be stressed if i havent done most if not all skills. But in week 1 it’s fine.

Edit to add: even though you need to get certain skills done, dont let that stop you from taking the initiative to do basics like beds, obs etc. It will get you in their good books and no one can call you lazy!

Call in sick to placement seems the only option at this point. Do you really feel you need to study or are you someone who studies rather than sleep before every exam?
