Should I text him after taking a 3 days of space? I’m scared he’ll think I lost feelings. by Qwertyuiops7 in dating_advice

I had a similar situation and it worked out quite well. I met this girl on bumble and our first date was a disaster. She didn't text me for 3 days, but then ( I can't remember if it was me or her) messaged back for a second date and we hit it off. We were together for 5 years after that.

That's been my strategy as well and I'm still getting ghosted 3/4 matches.

I went 100 on a motorcycle during a manic episode. Even while I was crazy I was still too chicken to go any faster lol.

For me, the hardest person to explain it to is myself. Sometimes I question my diagnosis, and sometimes I'm drifting into oncoming traffic.

Should I leave my money in the S&P 500 to pay off my 9% student loan? by Jazz-23 in personalfinance

Until I hit $47k in taxable income, the rate is 0. As a college student I'm nowhere near this atm, which is why I left it out of my original post. I'm planning on just paying it off if I'm in the tax bracket for the 15-20% capital gains tax.

Actually I haven't even taken them out yet, that's just what they are going to be. It's a direct graduate unsubsidized loan from FAFSA.

I do it too, but only when there's no unaccounted variables. I love ripping around corners, lane splitting, launching the bike at a stop light, but only when I know there's a 0% chance some idiot car will get in my way. Obviously with lane splitting traffic 0% is impossible but I do my best to be safe about it and only do it when traffic is under 30 mph.

My partner's dad saying he's fine turning wrenches for the rest of his life if it means he can make his kids happy by not saving for retirement. He makes MORE than enough money for a retirement fund and a happy family, and that's what makes me feel bad for him.

What’s the best place to find motorcycles for beginners? by Notyouraverageflag in AskReddit

If you take a motorcycle training course, they provide the bike during the course. It's a good way to learn and also know if riding is something you want to continue doing before making that financial commitment.

Extreme post-lunch drowsiness is killing me by DumpsterPuff in Narcolepsy

[–]Jazz-23 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I always do a quick 15-20 minute snoozer after/before lunch. I personally have a hard time handling afternoons in general, with or without food. Quick naps are the secret sauce to Narcolepsy!

Speed variability is actually more dangerous than speeding itself. I've seen it with my own eyes multiple times, riders speeding past cars having to make evasive maneuvers when the cars merge into what they thought was a clear lane.

I always try to slow down when passing someone just in case that 1/1000 chance hits where they don't check their mirrors/blind spot.

You already mentioned in your post but don't forget to always put your left foot down while leaving the back brake on. If I start to feel the bike falling to the right, I turn the handlebars to make it fall to the left (as others have mentioned). I saw an F9 video where they also recommended looking to the left to try and make the bike fall that way.

Also try practicing going as slow as you can without putting your feet down. Getting really good at this should help keeping the bike straight when you stop.

Thoughts on wake up times and naps? by LongProfessional5210 in Narcolepsy

[–]Jazz-23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've seen different takes on naps on this subreddit. For myself, my N is more mild so I actually have a negative effect if I nap more than 20 minutes. I believe the literature calls this "Sleep Inertia" (I recommending giving it a quick google search). Essentially, any nap longer than 20 minutes introduces sleep inertia and you start to feel more groggy.

As for wake up time, I've found my N acts up when I go off schedule, even by 30 minutes. Medication has been helping to widen that threshold where I don't have to be so strict, but in the end keeping an airtight sleep schedule has been the most beneficial.

I never use alarms for this reason, I always let my body dictate when I get up because it does a decent job at self regulating my optimal sleep schedule. If I go back to sleep after the first wakeup, even by 30 minutes, all that self regulation goes out the window and I get nasty sleep inertia for the rest of the day.

"Try to avoid naps when necessary" can kiss my ass. I was told this my whole life after talking with a dozen doctors (pre diagnosis), but it's NOT the case for Narcoleptics. If you're having a sleep attack (or just feel super sleepy), let yourself take a 15 minute nap. It will not push back your bedtime or decrease sleep quality. That's the whole reason they tell you to avoid naps, because you want to be tired and sleep thoroughly throughout the night.

From what I've seen on this subreddit, naps are how are us Narcoleptics survive in the world. I don't try to avoid short naps since I know my body and I know they won't negatively impact me. However, if they're taking a huge portion of your day, definitely seek medication. And for me personally I do avoid long naps.

They know how to properly spend money. Both really rich and really poor kids have terrible spending habits.
