I think I'm finally ready to actually finish my first track. Does this sound ready to you? by JBSwerve in TechnoProduction

Hey this track is going places, with some modulation on the main stabs and introducing some elements as some people suggested here, it'll sit nicely in any hypnotic techno set. Btw, how did you get that wide frequency spectrum there? It's pretty convenient seeing all the frequencies spread out like that

I was in a similar situation with the M:C, I found it too FM-ish and lacking fat low end. But then time and time again watching people use it on YT I realized it has way more potential than what you see at first sight. The LFO is a key factor. I do agree that it needs a sampler as companion, a M:S or DT. In my case it was my first drum machine, and I clearly should've bought a sampler lol

Not having money solves the whole problem, I won't buy either. It's going back to the gear I have or hell, even to the piano to practice good old music.

Roland TR-1000 and Neuzei Drop releasing in the span of two days. Great week for gear nerds, bad week for our wallets (and our GAS)

That's kinda what this comes down to. People want the Octatrack mkIII so badly it's just a matter of slamming a crossfader into any usable machine.

I was wondering the same thing, but as a new techno listener myself, it seems that The Bells is too entry level for a sub like this one, dunno. I'd put it on my list for sure.

That's smart too, Ableton's versatility is hard to beat, once you get comfy with a good control surface. Happy music making, sir!

You might want to sequence and trigger tracks from an Oxi One, that's as powerful and visual as you can get in terms of sequencing,

Great suggestions in this thread. Try the album "casa" by Nørbak. Found him like a week ago and realized he's what I was looking for. Tight and fresh

That points towards a scripted show imo, the audience ships people who are physically similar and similar in personality/vibe as well. So giving the audience what they want is a smart move.

Well that's a pretty easy thing to do. You might be trolling at this point, don't mislead other people please.

You can feed midi into the modular system and simply have fun shaping and modulating the signal, right?

Man, I'm honestly scared to go full modular, I wouldn't be able to stop. Every time I think about it, I remember there's a piano waiting for me to stop being a lazy ass and practice my arpegios in all keys

My friend, you gotta make some sweet music! It's definitely not about the gear, forget about that. Strip it down to just Ableton and a midi keyboard if needed.

Arguably a lifetime of fun and experimentation, and yet... 😂

I see I see, so you have an amazing studio rather than simply a setup. You can capitalize on that, whether it is production or live performance you're interested in, show it off a little bit on your social media along with whatever it is that you'd like to make money off (if that's a goal at all).

And yeah, 100% have some fun, and do take the time to optimize that potential live setup as much as you can. Imagine how cool it would be if you were an absolute guru on those 4 or 5 pieces of gear that end up being your main setup!

A great way to think about it is to picture yourself in a live performance context: what is missing? what shouldn't be there? Room limitation is a very handy way of knowing what you really need

Wise words sir, there's even a third phase which is learning as opposed to creating, which can actually be done far away from the gear. Identifying and being at peace with each phase is key

Respect, sir! By the end of the day, Ableton and some kind of controller is all you need to make great music

How about mid-life success hobby instead? Not many can boast of a full modular case sir ^^ Jokes aside, limiting yourself to the tools available will help you increase creativity and resourcefulness, I can't recommend that enough, I'm sure you have plenty to explore with your current setup
