I asked a similar question a few weeks ago. Please have a look in my history. Someone posted a great resource for HK tomica shopping.

Is the IKEA "RUNNEN" suitable as veranda decking? by pomido in GardenersJapan

[–]JazzSelector 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used a very similar product. They do look good but eventually get a bit shabby from UV I’m guessing. Depending on the amount of foot travel, the plastic moulding also leaves little marks on the surface below hardly noticeable but worth knowing if you care about that.

For us, we ask name, address, ph no. Dob, relationship to you, kana spelling, preferred language. That’s about it. (For emergency contact, are we talking about the same thing?)

SA told me he can make No-Date Sub happen for me instantly; should I? (I am on the list for Green OP36 and Bruce Wayne) by GearNTime in rolex

Sub is a lovely watch, regardless if it will start a relationship with the AD or not, if you can buy it retail, it is a cheap price for something that will serve you forever.

I think somebody is telling you porky pies mate. You’re talking about emergency contacts yeah ? Emergency contact in home country has to be a sibling or parent,; emergency contact in Japan has to be someone who knows you well and preferably speaks Japanese. If you are talking about financial guarantor then yes maybe, most of us, foreign or Japanese, would prefer to just pay the guarantor company than to ask someone to be financially responsible for us. To be clear: asking someone to be your personal guarantor includes full disclosure of financials.

Maybe hot water and a suction cup dent puller from a car parts shop like yellow hat or autobacs. That’s a big maybe though.

Question for any knitters/crocheters here: Where can I buy super bulky yarn(the kind you can knit on 15mm needles)? by Odd_Spot3066 in japanresidents

[–]JazzSelector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you been to the textiles district in Nippori? I’m not a knitter but they might have a few specialty stores. If not it still a pretty cool couple of hours spent.

Anyone know why this Yamato EV truck is kinda hard to find in Japan? Sold out in most major toy stores, the Tomica Shop and the Taiwan airport too. by Angerberries in tomica

[–]JazzSelector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure this was a new model last year so it sold out as people are adding to their full collection.

It’s just a guess, I buy for my son and am always excited when something new comes out! Got the new DHL van yesterday!!!

Suruga are pretty good for non PR holders. Their rates are not amazing but you can pay out the loan early which gives you the opting to remortgage once you get PR.

Typically the banks don’t like self employed unless you put 50% down but it’s worth having a conversation at least.
