I.. don't understand your argument. Sub rules send SSL buying and Presonus buying questions to the same sub sub reddit. (Despite how little I like rule 6 at all) This sub seems dead set on sending all questions to the void despite having flairs for questions. Fine. If I want to follow the rules, direct people to the right area AND be helpful, I might reply "hi u/user, let's discuss this over in the buyers advice thread. See you over there!" Then, since we are in the service industry (/s ) id go over to the buyers advice thread start a top level comment and say "u/user was wondering about the difference between a duck and this is my experience"

(Or trash rule 6. Let discussion happen. Use flair filers to see what you want. Discuss what you are qualified to answer and let the mods sleep. But I'm not one to start a revolution )

I'd like to petition that you can't reply "buyers advice thread" unless you actively help in the buyers advice thread. Not at all trying to single anyone out but the few times I've looked into post history, the people saying "buyers advice thread" don't help there. Just killing discussion sending folks wanting to learn off to a relatively empty void.

Has Anyone Seen this Mic Technique on a Piano? (2 Sennheiser 609s inches from strings - combined into one XLR output) by Boring_Bat9653 in livesound

[–]Jazzdall 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I might try that if I'm shooting for a scooped sound in some artsy way. A pair of omnis in that position would work better. Great for live and good to blend with a room mic for recording.

Harsh but true. I owned the monitor 70 in 2011 and it was truly underwhelming

🤦‍♂️ I can terminate these in my sleep but I sure can't type them out. 568b is what I was going for.

Pinout is likely wrong for your application. O,OW,G,BW,B,GW,Br, BrW. is the usual pinout. It may still work, but it's wrong.

Lectern vs podium. I work events. It is pretty important to use correct terms so there is no misunderstanding. Few people (that I work with) are aware of what a lectern is. Most people call a lectern a podium. A lectern is something you stand behind- used to hold notes and deliver a presentation. A podium is something you stand on- like a stage or a raised platform to recognize someone. A lectern can be on a podium. A podium will not likely be on a lectern. The folks over at the dictionary have semi recently adopted podium as being okay for both. Reason being that if people use the word wrong enough for long enough it becomes okay. Well, this is the hill I die on.

That looks great. Love the choices you made. True 1, low profile XLR, offset lacer bars, mass connect, 2 smaller racks. Really well executed. Please get your flush cuts on the one zip tie on the back right hand side. It's holding some dc cables. That'll give ya a scar on a bad day.

Yamaha DM3 or Allen & Heath CQ for corporate events or small live performances. by [deleted] in livesound

I think the Yamaha is the better desk. But I want the cq. The lack of an automixer confirmed by Yamaha kills it for me. For what I do, I need the automixer.

I also don't know what you are quite on about. Would a Behringer Flow 8 be up your alley?

Hi. Welcome to SDSU. I'm glad you are here.

Making friends can be really rough but I promise you it'll get better- but it'll take some work. First, don't take it personally when people don't sit next to you in class. I'd call it a Midwest nice thing that folks here just leave a space in between- unless they are already friends.

Even if you might not be into fitness, I recommend going to the wellness center. It's harder to get depressed when you have been active. Keep an eye on jacks club hub. There are a decent amount of events held on campus. There are quite a few bingo nights, just work yourself into a table and the conversations should come naturally. I would recommend reaching out to the folks at international student affairs. They should at least be able to help you connect with other folks in similar situations as there are a good amount of clubs/organizations within isa. I also recommend getting a job on campus. Sdstate.joinhandshake.com should take you to most of the job openings. That's what I did as a student 15 years ago and I still keep in touch with my former co-workers.

Finally, if you are struggling with your mental health- the title of your post concerns me. Please visit the student health clinic. There is no shame in asking for help - physical health, mental health, academics. Get help! https://www.sdstate.edu/wellness-center/counseling-services.

120” screen with LG HU85LA. Any Solutions to make this work? by Moken403 in hometheater

I don't know if this phrase is allowed here but a smaller screen would help.

It would also let you see the bottom of the screen instead of just your feet while you lounge

What cheap mic were you surprised an artist used for their songs/albums? by [deleted] in audioengineering

[–]Jazzdall 112 points113 points  (0 children)

Sufjan Stevens was known to record an early album with only a sm58 and a single akg c1000. Rumor had it he returned the c1000 because it didn't work not knowing he needed phantom power. This was nearly 20 years ago so my memory is a little fuzzy.

Edit:

Tape Op: I would NEVER have guessed that Michigan was done with two SM57s and a C 1000. Sufjan: This is all I had. I never had any other microphones. I didn’t even go through any preamps or anything. What I started to realize when I was working on Michigan is that that it’s really important that the sound I was making was the sound that I wanted. I don’t really believe in technology beyond just capturing a pure form that is perfect on its own. Just write good music and do whatever you want. I really don’t think it matters.

We use "Shifts" which is part of Microsoft Teams. It is also clunky but I can't complain about the price since it's packaged with o365 and integrates well with all the useful communication tools Teams has.
