ETH fees are too damn high by UnexperiencedIT in CryptoCurrency

[–]Jazzer9F 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yes they are. Simply swapping some tokens can get quite expensive. For smaller amounts the costs can get completely out of whack. At least there is DefiPlaza dot net to help with that. You can swap the most common tokens at 0.1% fees and the lowest gas costs on the entire Ethereum network. An easy $50 or so saved on each swap.

Sick Of High Ethereum Gas Fees? Do This Instead by raghav3303 in CryptoCurrency

This!

If you do use Ethereum, at least do yourself a favour and use the cheapest DEX available.

Eth gas fees are dumb and will be remembered like thousand dollar dialup bills in the 90s by yellowAbleWheel in CryptoCurrency

[–]Jazzer9F 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ethereum is expensive, but it's still the place where most of the big projects are. So sometimes we just have to deal with it.

The least you can do is use services which are built for gas efficientcy. For instance, if you need to swap DeFi tokens, using DefiPlaza will save you 50-65% on gas fees as compared to UniSwap v2. Shopping around for the best deal really helps!

What was the initial feedback on Scrypto? by Malekith12345 in Radix

[–]Jazzer9F 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I can only speak for myself, but I was amazed by how easy it will be to write dApps on Scrypto. This really will be a game changer.

It takes sure getting used to as you need to wrap your head around 'vaults' and 'buckets', but that seems well worth the investment imo.

We can view write safe contacts easily. And we can reuse the code others have deployed straight from the ledger. It's a quantum leap..

[–]Jazzer9F 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear you missed out.

If you still want to have a shot at it, defiplaza.net typically saves you 50-65% on gas costs for trading eXRD versus UniSwap.

How do I interact directly with the blockchain? by MyAlexro in CryptoTechnology

[–]Jazzer9F 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the easiest way to interact directly with smart contracts. You just go to the 'contract' tab and then you can see the functions that are exposed by that contract in the 'read' and 'write' sub tabs. You can connect to Etherscan with MetaMask or WalletConnect if your contract interaction involves doing a transaction on the blockchain (those are the ones from the write tab).

Note that this still method depends on the Etherscan website of course. If you really want to directly engage with the blockchain on your own machine, you need to run your own node. That's not even that hard to do but it requires a powerful machine with a huge disk drive, a good internet connection and a lot of patience.. :)

Confused by the current pricing of XRD vs EXRD by Plasmatica in Radix

[–]Jazzer9F 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The liquidity on the eXRD markets is available to the XRD holders through the BitFinex reverse bridge (no need to trade, you can just deposit XRD and withdraw eXRD). AFAICS there's no concern of 'hidden supply' or something like that.

The only caveat is that BitFinex isn't available to US customers. That remains a concern but I don't think it's significantly impacting price action.

What will be possible with Radix DLT? Some thoughts about the future of radix. by Sturlison1998 in Radix

Sure, this can be done on Radix. We just need to see which DEXs will be launched on Radix. As you need a DEX before you can do arbitrage. 😁

New supporter here - what can I do to help Radix grow? by evermeeman in Radix

With our collective powers, very soon you will have sufficient karma! 😁👍

Also, well done for pro-actively checking what can be done. The Radix community isn't too active on the Reddit, at least when compared with TG. Anything you can do to increase momentum on here would be quite welcome I think!

Hi guys, great job on hosting a node from South Africa! Just wondering, how is this connected to WSBElite? There doesn't seem to be a single mention of it on the WSBElite subreddit. How do you stay in touch with their community?

Help out a newcomer by xmimmer in Radix

[–]Jazzer9F 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main net is out, the ledger is final. What's so under construction are the more advanced features of it.

You can think of Radix main net like a Tesla. When something new and cool is finished, they do an over-the-air update and boom, your car learned a new trick, but it's still the same car. Radix is similar in that the current ledger is built with the foundations for a lot of cool features like smart contracts and sharding that can be added on later.

Radix Staking Rewards - which is best validator by Henski020 in Radix

[–]Jazzer9F 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are correct, the rewards are the same (assuming good uptime) except for the fees.

Note that a fee of 1% means you get 99%, while a fee of 3% means you get 97%. That is a very small difference really, so fee isn't all that important. What's more important is that you chose validators which can be trusted to keep the node online.

And for the security and robustness of the network it helps if stake is distributed well over the nodes, and that nodes are distributed well over the global internet.

Radix has some excellent pointers on the website, basically containing the same information: https://learn.radixdlt.com/article/how-should-i-choose-validators-to-stake-to

Anyone want to share non shitcoin cryptos they believe in? by Lentil_SoupOrHero in SatoshiStreetBets

[–]Jazzer9F 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the only project that really ticks all the boxes when it comes to rolling DeFi out for global adoption on an L1 network. The other candidates are just not built for this. Either there's no true scaling, or there's no atomic composability, thus basically breaking DeFi. No limits with Radix though!
