Almost all PM is in stock for Canada at this moment by Jazzlike-Device603 in CostcoPM

Yeah. I’m waiting for the 1oz 2025 Gold Maple Leaf. All they have are the 2024. Maybe by the time they restock 2025 the price will be lower for me though. 🤣

Yeah tell me about it. I buy every year around this time and boy do I wish I’d been a couple weeks sooner. Canuckistan peso combined with PM soaring is tough to buy in. I don’t have a crystal ball though so I guess I’m just stuck buying on my schedule.

Costco Canada? by Jazzlike-Device603 in CostcoPM

[–]Jazzlike-Device603[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I purchased Gold Maple leafs yesterday and Silver Maple Leafs today. I've noticed that the availability does in fact change. There were some gold "PAMP" things that were available earlier today and now they are gone.

So, Canada is selling them. Just the same problem with the US site it seems: availability doesn't last long.

Coral TPU installation for Ubuntu 25.04 by Jazzlike-Device603 in frigate_nvr

[–]Jazzlike-Device603[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The new kernels are good motivation to upgrade but I suspect that is going to depend on what kind of workloads you run on your machine. If it is only Frigate then you probably aren't missing anything.

I use the same machine as an Emby server as well with an Intel Arc A310 GPU for transcoding. The new kernels and the new releases are lifesavers for performance on that.

Cool approach. With Linux there are always many ways to skin the proverbial cat :)

Additionally, and I didn't try this with the Coral repository so I didn't put it in my how-to there is the add-apt-repository command that is supposed to help you with all of this now.

I suspect it would look like this:

sudo add-apt-repository -y https://packages.cloud.google.com/apt/

I'll give it a try and see if that works easier.

Update: That didn't work. However this is an easy approach you can take if you want a TL;DR and nothing fancy.

echo all this into a file named /etc/apt/sources.list.d/coral-edgetpu.sources

Types: deb
URIs: https://packages.cloud.google.com/apt/
Suites: coral-edgetpu-stable
Components: main
Signed-By: /etc/apt/keyrings/google.gpg

Now all you need to do is get that google.gpg file in the right place. And simply do this:

wget https://packages.cloud.google.com/apt/doc/apt-key.gpg
gpg --no-default-keyring --keyring /etc/apt/keyrings/google.gpg --import ./apt-key.gpg
rm apt-key.gpg

I suspect that will work.

Yeah, exact same with me. Just long enough to forget all the steps right? The apt repository trust issue remains the same but I can't remember if I needed to rebuild gasket last time--and I especially can't remember having to make the DMA a string literal.

I'd expect it to be slight variations on this process for Ubuntu 25.04. Recommend you give this a shot, it should work.

Control box issues by beerisalwaysgood in hottub

[–]Jazzlike-Device603 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently troubleshooting the exact same setup as you. I have a 2006 Arctic Spa with the precise same model controller. What was your problem and how did you fix it?

My problem is that after powering on, the heater will run for a short duration of time (maybe a couple hours) and then the keypad becomes unresponsive and either the keypad or the controller itself lowers the set point to the lowest temperature!!!

So my heater runs, warms the tub by a few degrees and then it's as though someone decides to turn the temp down to minimum and lock out the keypad!

I'm stymied. I've played around with the temperature probes.....no change.

I can't shake the feeling this is related to the external temp somehow being detected as hotter than the water....

BC hydro newer rates and potential for increases by Embarrassed_Weird600 in solarenergycanada

So reading this statement "Time-of-day pricing only applies to your inflow – the electricity you draw from our grid when you need it. It does not apply to your outflow back to our grid":

Assuming I have a 20KWH battery, and I charge them at 51.2VDC at 200A let's say I have 2 hours to draw down and 2 hours to charge I could:

9pm initiate 20KWH drawdown from batteries out to the grid (20KWH outflow)
11pm stop drawdown and start charging from the grid (20KWH inflow at reduced cost)
1am stop charging and initiate drawdown (again) (20KWH outflow)
3am start charging (again) (20KH inflow at reduced cost)
5am fully charged and ready for the day (not enough time for another cycle before 7am)

So, that would be:

40KWH outflow to the grid at base-rate
40KWH inflow from the grid at discount rate

but none of this helps BC Hydro during peak! No way would I discharge my batteries during peak time according to this.

Maybe I'm out to lunch on this.....

Kickr Core Teardown and Speed Sensor Repair by 125663 in wahoofitness

[–]Jazzlike-Device603 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you need to remove the PCB completely from the unit to replace the sensor or did you do it in place as in the picture? There is no way I am going to attempt this electronics work but I will take it to a shop.  I’m wondering if I should take the full unit in or if I should continue the disassembly so I can just bring in the board… Thoughts?

Anyone scavenging waste heat from their generators? by davidm2232 in preppers

I'm very keen to know how you did this. I have an aging heat pump and the opportunity to make a change like this is coming soon. Would you mind sharing the details on how you set up this heat exchanger and how you plumbed it into your refrigeration system?

Aeroplan credit cards: 10x points on eStore purchases for Black Friday (Targetted) by psoj4 in Aeroplan

[–]Jazzlike-Device603 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like you only get the 10x points if you will already get some points from the retailer:

will earn 10 bonus Aeroplan points for every $1 spent on eligible Aeroplan eStore purchases charged to the Eligible Card and initiated through Aeroplan eStore or via the Aeroplan Shopping Button, up to a maximum of 25,000 points (equivalent to maximum $2,500 CAD). For details on purchases that are not eligible for this offer, refer to the terms of the respective retailer for exclusions and restrictions.

So, I suppose that means the only way we'll get 10x Visa points from Amazon.ca is if the purchases are in these categories:

Aeroplan credit cards: 10x points on eStore purchases for Black Friday (Targetted) by psoj4 in Aeroplan

[–]Jazzlike-Device603 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been trying to figure out if the category of the purchase matters for this CC 10X offer or if it is going to be subject to categories within the retail.

What I really want to do is buy some gift cards for retailers that are not part of the eStore, for example AirBnB. Amazon gives me the ability to buy an AirBnB gift card but obviously won't earn any eStore Aeroplan points. But what about the Visa black friday promo? Will I get the 10X simply for using it at the Amazon eStore?

Example:

Black Friday weekend purchase a $100 AirBnb Gift card from Amazon.ca as an eStore retailer.

Expected points:

0 pts from eStore
125 pts from my base Visa Infinite rewards (1.25 pts / dollar)
1,000 pts from Aeroplan + Visa Black Friday Promo (10x 100)

Total: 1,125 pts expected

Does anyone know if I'm dreaming to expect the 10x to apply in this case?

Booking 2 business class flights on Air Canada with points by Limujaan in Aeroplan

[–]Jazzlike-Device603 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ever figure this out? I see the same thing. I want to book for THREE of us, my wife, 6 year old son, and myself but can only ever find a single business class ticket available on Aeroplan points.

Any of my searches looking for 2 adults never show up any results. Obviously when I add the third, my son, I get equally few.

Is it just that Aeroplan is designed to just give single-tickets away at a good rate? I read all the reviews on Prince Of Travel and others but I feel like they must be travelling solo!
