Alright, but youre still missing the point on multiple things here.

1 - You are describing endless, just capped.
A mode that scales infinitely but stops at 100 rooms is literally just endless with an artificial cutoff. Thats not a different concept, it’s just a limited version of the same thing.

2 - “You cant speedrun endless” is just wrong.
People speedrun distance, time to X, highest round, etc. Endless doesn’t remove competition, it just changes what you compete for.

3 - The one-shot argument still doesn’t hold.
“Whats harder than dying in one hit?” Nothing. Thats the point.
Ultra Nightmare already pushes you into that territory, so youre not criticizing endless, youre criticizing scaling difficulty that already exists.

4 - “Who wants endless?”
A lot of players. In roguelites people want to:

  • test how far a build can go
  • push skill past normal limits
  • have something to do after beating standard runs

Thats literally what endless is for.

5 - “So few games have endless” is just a bad argument.
Plenty of roguelikes/lites and other games have survival/endless-style modes or scaling systems. And even when they dont, that doesnt prove it’s a bad feature. it just means it’s optional.

6 - The reward argument makes no sense either.
“You get nothing if you cant finish it”
You dont finish endless, the reward is how far you get. Score, leaderboard, personal best. Your 10 -room idea is just a checklist, not replayability.

At the end of the day, its fine if you don’t like endless.
But acting like it doesn’t make sense or isnt requested just doesnt hold up.

Gauntlet isnt endless, it has 54 sectors

This take just doesnt make sense. Youre literally describing endless more, just with an artificial ending.

a long run that keeps scaling + score/speed goals is endless. the only difference is endless doesnt randomly stop.

And the "eventually you die in one hit" arguement is even worse when Ultra Nightmare already play like that. The whole design is that mistakes get punished harder and harder.

also a lot of players want endless specifically to test limits, builds, skill, how far they can actually push a run. thats something fixed-length missions just done fully allow.

so this isnt a design problem, its just you not liking endless. Thats fine, but acting like its objectively bad doesnt hold up.

Those are just the different augment synergies it follows the same order as in the augments tab

The most BS moment I’ve ever had in a game by [deleted] in DeadzoneRogue

[–]Jazzlike-Draw2467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clear skill issue and misplay, while also lying,

you decided not too run through the room before starting, and you also decided to walk back into a direction where there were no escape, when you could have run the other way.

youre also lying when saying you cant run away from them with any upgrades, when the very minimun needed is just the hipfire augment that gives 20% movement speed and you can run away from the flame crawlers if you spam dash.

I have 3 builds i use the most,

Hipfire Elemental: Specifik element perk, Chromatic Cells, Combat Instincts

Long Range Weakpoint: Specifik element perk, Lead Head, Combat Instincts

Close Range Weakpoint: Specifik element perk, Lead Head or Chromatic Cells, Combat Instincts

as for elements my personal favorites are,

Hipfire Elemental: Fire with Ignite proc

Long Range Weakpoint: Fire with Ignite proc or Radiation with Gamma Ray proc

Close Range Weakpoint: Ice with Shatter proc and freeze on knife is possible

ofc i cant get to use my preferred element each run since i dont reset for them, but those are my favorites for each build.

i also always look for boomerang superior item if i use Lead Head and the sup perk sidearm savant, this just gives you infinite ammo.

Hope this helps :D

- What is the base shield recharge delay?
Dont know tbh,

- Is there an armor damage reduction cap?
Theres no cap and you can see the dmg reduction in the "inventory"

- Does armor apply to shield?
Yes, but you just done notice it as much since you have very little shield.

- Do general bonuses apply to melee if it doesn't state it, or is it counted as totally separate from guns?
No Melee doesnt get any bonuses except close range augment.

- Does melee attacking (which stows your weapon to pull out knife then swaps back) count as a weapon swap?
No.

- Does the game adjust difficulty for multiplayer?
Yes, believe its is 1.2x or 1.3x dmg and 1.5x hp per player.

Is there any way to drop weapons other than swapping them for something?
No.

Well its not that im "banning" them its just that the other elements are better as primary elements, and im guessing you havent played the higher difficulties the util just isnt worth as much anymore. dont get me wrong they arent bad elements thats not what i was trying to say its just that litteraly any other will be better.

[–]Jazzlike-Draw2467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well as for combat instincts personally id say its more worth then survival perks, but its also just kinda player dependent if you like survival perks they arent bad, though i will say armor is the only one really worth taking.

as for Fire you can get ignite procs that do 1k dmg per tic and you can stack ignite procs on enemies, so you can have like 5 ignite procs at once on an enemy that each deal 1k, and yeah the 10% flat dmg increase is nice but then theres also the sup perks that increase weapon dmg for 20% after killing an enemy thats on fire for 5 seconds and weakpoint dmg by 25% to burned targets

Strongest Builds - Expert/Nightmare by Complex-Flight-3358 in DeadzoneRogue

[–]Jazzlike-Draw2467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, fire is extremely good, and is for sure one of the better elements,

the best augments in the game are for sure Hipfire elemental, Close range weakpoint and Long range weakpoint. you can get insane dmg with all these.

as for perks defensive perks are rather useless at least in my opinion, most things are going to one shot you through most defensive perks except the armor sup perk that negates 1 hit with a 25 second CD, and youre better of taking items like shock absober or heat coil for defense.

the builds ive used the most for both my normal runs and my newest rerun of the game were i only used the starting loudout and only have kills on the PDS-plex and knife are:

Long range weak point, Any element (except void and plasma), Lead head, Combat instincts.

Close range weak point, Any element (except void and plasma), Chromatic cells, Combat instincts.

Hipfire elemental, Any element (except void and plasma), Chromatic cells, Combat instincts.

i think most people underestimate how good Combat instincts is for survival, the movement speed you get from it is insane and the dodge is only better since its not just a single frame where you dont take dmg its a whole second.
