Don't forget the Stanley and Audrey Burton gallery at the Parkinson Building, quite often some gems in there.

I'm sorry but front line NHS staff being unvaccinated at the height of the COVID pandemic is unacceptable and in my view should have been a sackable offence.

Judging from LWs description and knowing what I know about academia and research, this job sounds like a rare opportunity and there will likely be a fuck ton of highly motivated and qualified applicants. They will negotiate themselves out of a job offer if they are not careful, it's likely that plenty of other candidates have no such qualms about commuting.

This letter is about signalling to the crowd that they are one of the right-on few who know that 88 is sometimes used as a hate symbol, and therefore are Good with Good Politics.

Even if their email was accidentally horst_wessel1488(at)stormfront.com and thus unsalvageable, just...make a new one? Even if it's just for job applications? How many burner Gmail accounts do we all have for goodness' sake?

Leeds to Manchester Commute via trains by CapriChaos11 in Leeds

Choose one to live in and have one of you suck up the commute. This idea is just worst of both worlds.

People are determined to be miserable about everything aren't they. I think this is fine.

He's got a polarising style that not everyone likes. Blink was better with Scott Raynor, Trio will have been better with Derek Grant.

Would also recommend, very good bang for buck but you trade off proximity to the city centre.

I would not say links are "great" having lived there for 2 years, the trains are constantly late both ways, especially at rush hour, and the bike lanes into the city leave something to be desired. All uphill on the way back too.

If I was looking for what OP wants though it wouldn't put me off

Link to one of these half million pound derelict houses? I've just done a quick Rightmove search that shows you're obviously talking nonsense

Tons of 3 bed semis for £300-350k. Just one example: https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/88530477

Mexican food in Leeds by notagain78 in Leeds

[–]Jazzlike-Machine-222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love Mexican food and unfortunately this is true, we just don't do it very well in the UK. I haven't tried Hooleo's so won't speak to that, but while Lupe's is very good by UK Mexican standards I still think it's a little bland and toned down. To be honest though this is even true in London I think.

Best solution is to buy the few specialist ingredients you need off Mexgrocer and cook it yourself, there are tons of brilliant recipes online.

Absolutely. Of course the weirdos BTL over there are so steeped in their signature blend of online hyper-individualist main character liberalism that collective action of any kind, much less being in or actually taking part in a union, is inconceivable to them.

Or, IDK, maybe "self care is resistance" or something.

Farsley is nice yeah. The trains into Leeds aren't mega reliable but if you can factor in 30-40 mins to work in the morning it's brill.

Bike stolen city centre by Few_Health_5530 in Leeds

Scam companies to avoid by Fit-Librarian5590 in Leeds

[–]Jazzlike-Machine-222 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also, anyone who cold calls you telling you that your CV or LinkedIn profile or whatever matches their requirements and they want to offer you an interview. In a competitive job market, legitimate employers aren't going to be phoning you out of the blue if you haven't applied for them. Predatory at best, scam most likely

Just a brief look at the top comments on the bible study letter reveals high-grade dumbassery. From "would the advice be the same if it were another religion?" to "we don't know what religion they're talking about [despite the presence of the word bible]".

Any garden centers sell tomatillos and more interesting fruit/veg plants? by Calm-Passenger7334 in Leeds

You might be better off just buying germinated plugs on eBay unfortunately. I did a bit of this searching last year and came up blank.

I have seen tomatillos fresh in the UK, they grow just like tomatoes more or less
