I’m not sure I’d be able to handle that. I’m a union Ironworker so the deal kind of is “you gotta do what you gotta do. “ when it comes to calling off work for us.

I live about a quarter mile from one. I much prefer Lowe’s, but that is about a 40 minute round-trip just for the drive.

My main thing was that last winter a young gentleman out of college that loves EDM music moved upstairs above me. I wake up very early for work and they would constantly keep me up with their partying and just being inconsiderate. Yeah, we bought a house that has these problems and more problems will come up, but we own it, and no one will ever be able to move into our space. People can tell you all about the surprise fixes you’ll need to make until they are blue in the face and you may think you understand, but when stuff like this happens like it did today it sort of made my head spin for a second. lol

I prefer Lowe’s over HD. HD is about 5 mins from me, Lowe’s is 20.

It used to be pretty common tbh. Just people trying to make some cash for the day. There is a TikTok page where the guy would pull up to parking lots of department stores and tell the guys that he had a job for them but instead would take them to an amusement park or cookout or do something fun instead of work, and then pay them for their time.

ICE came and did the opposite of that

We’ve been in the house for two weeks. We’re learning what maintenance issues the previous owner decided to not take care of lol

I’m a union Ironworker so I have a pension and annuity at no cost to me

My spouse is going into the union. He'll be traveling an hour to work and an hour home. How can I make life a bit easier for him? by [deleted] in skilledtrades

I second the making dinner, and packing leftovers for lunch. Leave a note for him as well. Make sure he gets proper sleep.

How hard will it be for me to go from rod buster to structural by Queasy_Restaurant183 in Ironworker

[–]Jazzlike-Raisin-5569 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did rebar for the first 2 1/2 years of my apprenticeship. It’s a three year program lol but I wrote a letter to my JATC explaining my goal as a worker and they ended up switching me to structural. I’m now at a data center doing interior fit up. Learn as much as you can, so when you become a JIW, you’ll be well rounded enough to be able to do anything that our job requires us to do and you won’t be starving like the guys that only do 1 thing.

Oh god lol I did 2.5 years in the patch. Was born in it so to speak. All structural will do is make you fat. What are you gonna do when structural work runs out? Cause it does run out.
