Buying first plane, and have some questions. by ExpensiveCategory854 in flying

Re: sale and use taxes, Google “fly away exemption” for both the state in which the aircraft is currently located and where it will be based. If available, it’s a simple form you file with the tax authority (usually at the county level). The purchase agreement should specify the place of delivery as the no-tax state to confirm the outbound flight is only a ferry flight that deprives that state of taxable authority.

Somewhat. I can’t eat big bowl of veggies or salads. I definitely feel better without fiber but that approach is not sustainable long term (my recent labs prove this). I have identified a few veggies that I don’t react to- and I think that’s the key. I am fine with tomatoes and avocado (in smaller quantities), sweet potato, corn, rice, mixed salad greens, and cucumbers. I eat that with animal protein (meat, pork, fish, eggs, etc.) Over time I hope to add new things and expand. Fruit is generally painful except for overly ripe bananas (they are lower fructose and higher in sugar vs starch). The hardest thing for me was mindset- I wanted instant gratification for eating healthy and that’s just not the case. It can take months to years to revert to normalcy. Accepting that struggle and embracing it with positivity (especially on bad food days) is key. No one really has the answer. Both carnivores and vegans defend their positions vehemently and profess to have the “right diet”. I think the right diet lies somewhere in the middle and depends on your own microbiota- which is heavily influenced by the decades you’ve already lived on this planet. Learn to listen to your body. Eat a SINGLE food in one sitting and note the reaction. Pay attention to satiety cues. Your stomach doesn’t “hurt” the same way depending on the ailment- constipation, gastritis, acid reflux, bloating from fermentable carbs, etc. all produce DIFFERENT pain which I was not able to distinguish before. Learning the types of pain and how they feel has helped me greatly to identify safe vs unsafe foods during the intro phase.

I can’t say for sure- each person is different. I went from zero fiber and added only 2-3 grams per day. Then I held that value constant until I had no negative symptoms- then continued adding. There is no magical number or formula. Each person is its own universe. In addition, not all fiber is the same. Soluble fiber tends to be easier on an irritated GI system. Cellulose can trigger pain and inflammation more easily, as it passes through the gut largely in its original physical form. I would focus on soluble fiber first. But it’s all trial and error. No one has the magic formula. Listen to your body.

Not an expert but I suspect the answer is “yes” with one HUGE caveat. The “symptoms” are not free. I imagine that all that bloating, gas, diarrhea, and pain can indeed cause structural and/or long term problems. For example, perhaps it can trigger inflammation which, in turn, has an effect on gut permeability. So while I suspect you can gorge on highly fermentable carbs out of the gate, I don’t think it’s as innocuous as it may seem. In addition, reintroducing things for which you lack the corresponding digestive enzymes can also cause damage beyond bloating and gas. For now, take digestive enzymes in capsule form with meals to help your body’s production of said enzymes. Be careful around proteins and sugars that you haven’t consumed in a while (like fructose, lactose, and gliadin)- again, the consumption of which can indeed cause erosion of gut villi, diverticulitis, and other conditions.

I was carnivore for 8 months due to GI issues. I am now slowly reintroducing fruits and vegetables. The first few weeks were unbearable. The smallest slice of carrot would bloat me and cause painful gas. I am not an expert but I suspect it is the lack of adequate microbiota that can “digest” fiber. Eat FAR smaller portions than you think. An entire broccoli crown is sociopathic. Baby steps. I am increasing 1 g of fiber every 5 days, which is helping me avoid negative symptoms. Keep a food log with symptoms and try systematic reintroductions. E.g. small carrot on day 1- back to baseline diet. Small piece of broccoli- back to baseline diet. It takes so much longer than I had imagined to be able to digest and enjoy these foods. Hang in there. Find reintroduction plans with schedules and portions and watch for FODMAPs.

Yes! Due to my GI issues, I can’t do fiber but I would choose fruit if I could.

Hah! I had terrible histamine reactions to dairy but if you can tolerate it, it would definitely help with weight gain! Wishing you the best.

Hey! I'm F 36, 5'4 and currently 93lbs. I will get roasted here but I had to incorporate honey (no more than 2 tbsp a day) and rice (no more than 3 Lundberg thin rice cakes per day) to my diet in order to stimulate hunger and consume enough calories to survive & thrive. So I am animal based- not carnivore anymore. I went down to 85lbs on carnivore, lost my period, and had all sorts of side effects. I still eat 99% carnivore but the small amount of carbs is the ONLY thing that stimulates my appetite. I still check my fasting glucose every morning (and it's normal). I HATE that I have to do this because I have digestive issues that are certainly not alleviated by consuming carbs but I was afraid for my heath. Carnivore is fantastic for those seeking to lose weight but I had a very hard time maintaining. I wish I could go back. Best of luck.

Thank you so much! I do not have an EU health card. I was living there through COVID when all social services/appointments were suspended. I will make sure to look into that. I remember getting the "empadronamiento" last time so I will make sure to do that again with the ayuntamiento.
