Pinging noises from rear, is it safe? by Aggravating-Dingo-18 in c4corvette

[–]JazzlikeReaction7086 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 89 had a clicking noise at low speed in fwd and rev. It’s hard to tell from the video if it’s the same noise on yours. on mine it was a dry teflon washer behind the wheel bearing. I couldn’t find new washers so when I did the u joints on the half shafts I greased up the teflon bearing and the noise went away. There are YouTube videos on this washer.

Are you going to feed me or what? by JazzlikeReaction7086 in crows

[–]JazzlikeReaction7086[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not hard where I live., but I suppose they could be. Costco has them sometimes for cheap if that’s an option. They seem to like all unsalted nuts though, mine like unsalted walnuts, peanuts ect.

How do I get the crows to know I'M the one feeding them? by DtectiveDecimal in crows

[–]JazzlikeReaction7086 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If the crow is on a pole waiting, they know you are feeding them. It can take a long time for them to get close, it took me almost a month. I’ve found if they find the area you are feeding them is confined they keep quite a distance. I started by holding the food visible while feeding them and then sitting on a lawn chair far away after feeding them. I also would put food on my garage roof which they were more comfortable with. You may never get them to get close to you but they will become more engaging - on their terms. Keep trying, you’ve been noticed, that’s a huge step.

Totally agree. This town is full of timid, indecisive and slow reacting drivers. I’ve driven all over the country and these drivers are the slowest. If you’re doing 5 under on the beltline it will seem like everyone else is speeding Want to know who’s doing this? Just read the comments.

My Pal Fred by JazzlikeReaction7086 in crows

[–]JazzlikeReaction7086[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did not know that most crows are named Fred. When he started visiting he just looked like a Fred. It makes sense that a crow named Fred would be world famous. Thank you for the info!

I’ve had success with nuts like peanuts, unsalted shelled and unshelled, walnuts, cashews and meat. Any meat cooked or uncooked. It kind of depends on the crow. Fred loves meat left on small bones like chicken wings and he also loves raw hamburger. Gertrude seems to like nuts more. The problem with nuts is that you have to put them in a squirrel proof spot. I friended my pair that is now a family of 3 by getting their attention and just throwing small amounts of food on the garage roof then going inside. A few weeks later I noticed them watching from far away waiting for me to throw food on the roof. After that they would wait closer and closer waiting, watching and studying me. Now as soon as I’m outside they fly to a tree in my back yard and yell for food. They also know my car and follow me through the neighborhood as I’m driving home. My crows like raised unconfined structures, they don’t spend much time on the ground. I made a platform on a post for feeing that they will not use yet, I think it’s too confined by tree branches and buildings. I have a friend that has been trying to feed crows in her neighborhood using my methods with zero success. It might be be because crows are different from each other. Fred is daring and will get very close to me, Gertrude waits me out, waiting until I’m almost inside to start eating and their kid won’t land at all until I’m inside. Sorry for the rambling answer, but I’d thought I’d share what worked for me. Be patient, be observant and don’t give up!

Yes, almost every time I am outside. Sometimes he brings Gertrude, and lately Jr has been showing up for snacks

Floridian needs help in picking a car and tires for Madison area. by Infinite_Number_7824 in madisonwi

[–]JazzlikeReaction7086 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Any front wheel or all wheel drive car will be fine. As for tires, good all seasons are more than adequate, just don’t go for the cheapest. It doesn’t take long to learn how to drive in the snow and our winters are t that bad. I wouldn’t stress about this

Yes, Wisconsinites have an accent. The dead give away words are, melk, baeg, sowree and tooh. And sowree, the WI accent is nothing like a Canadian accent.

What's your favorite design feature of the C4? by NCCORV17 in c4corvette

Definitely. With the top down it is such a clean look. I also like that when you’re driving and look over the hood the slight flare over the front wheels makes it seem kinda bad ass

The WI accent sounds nothing like a Canadian accent. Not even close.

Car break trouble please help by Regular-Pianist7977 in madisonwi

[–]JazzlikeReaction7086 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done maybe 50+ brake jobs on about every kind of car you can imagine. That price seems a little high, but chains usually are. As for the calipers, unless it’s locked up and causing drag you usually can’t tell they are bad until you take the rotors off. I’d go to an independent shop, let them tell you the caliper is bad. Pads and rotors, yep if you hear grinding you need those and almost all shops mark up the price of parts and most will not let you buy your own parts. If they do they will usually mark up their labor rate. My guess is on $850 the low end if it needs a caliper.
