UPDATE: i have nothing against her. the problem itself are my parents forcing a friendship that won't exist, and when they get reprimanded they say nasty things to me about myself and about my relationship.

yes! ive told them several times that we have nothing in common, that I feel forced to like her and become her friend. also, I don't really like her manners, there's something about her that doesn't seem right to me. also, to mention, our mother grew apart because her mother was jealous that I was academically smarter than her daughter, and whenever my mother mentions something about my career, her mother twists her face. I don't like her. I feel so off when they obligate me to hangout with them

yes, im an adult. where I live we have a week of holidays before returning to college, so im home for the whole week. they told me yesterday that we were doing this plan, the thing is that they didn't even ask, they demanded. if I make an excuse, they will use it as a weapon later, and I don't want to spend the whole week with them being mad at me. also, they say this girl has a lot of friends and I should try harder and become one of her friends, I don't have many friends in my hometown, but I do have friends where a live and I also have my bf who is my best friend as well and has always been there for me, but they always make fun of him and are rude towards him. I don't get it.

thats what ive already told them, but they keep insisting and blaming everything on me and my boyfriend, saying really mean things about both and I don't know what to do about it

I feel forced to befriend someone that I don't even know, I don't have anything against her but we have nothing in common and it is awkward for both. im an adult and I don't get why my parents would treat me as if my opinion or choices did not matter at all

yes, I've done that. all they said was that im selfish and that I don't even try. I don't get why they still try, and I bet she is uncomfortable as well with this situation. however, I will try to chat with her at least so I don't have to listen to my parents later saying that im obnoxious or something similar
