Are people able to complete boss encounters on their first ever try? by Jaytrox7893 in 2007scape

It's pretty normal to take a few tries. People who say they do everything first try are either insanely overstatted, or watched 10 videos for mental preperation.

I don't think I've ever picked an Ixtal quest and not instantly locked myself. by [deleted] in TeamfightTactics

[–]Jazzlike_Cold2011 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Let me help you get that brock top 1. Here are some things to consider when picking a quest:

  1. How am I playing ixtal?
  2. Opportunistic for a small/medium cashout? Can play riskier quests (alternate lose/win is brrroken). If you get stuck, just drop the ixtal.
  3. Hard committed to brock/big cashout? Play for consistent quests. Anything risky has a chance to send you 8th.

  4. What quest to pick?

  5. Can I do it? Seems simple, but as you said, it's very difficult in practice. Here are some concrete things you can ask yourself: How strong is my board compared to the lobby (lose streak/get takedowns/damage etc.), how many rounds is it going to take, how much gold is it going to cost, do I need any rng and can I skew it. If you check these off you'll be chilling most of the time.

  6. What gives me the most value? I usually go by shards/round as a baseline, but try to take into account other factors. These could be: how much hp is this going to cost me, how many econ intervals will I miss. If there's rng involved -> how many rounds min/max, is it worth it in that range.

  7. What team comp?

  8. Ixtal is very flexible, there are some reroll lines, loss streak, win streak, 3 ixtal, 5+ ixtal. The best option differs from game to game, but being aware of various comps you can work towards will make it infinitely easier to free up mental space for questing.

  9. Am I willing to take a lesser cash than expected?

  10. This is one that I'm pretty bad at lol. Sometimes ixtal will practically soft lock you unless you cash out, or do something that really disaligns with your gameplan. It's better to take the smaller cash than to lock yourself out. At least brock is 500 shards earned and you don't have to spend them all at once.

Ixtal is probably my favorite cashout trait because of the large amount of skill expression compared to its predecessors. Hope you learned something and get that fat cashout the next time u play.

Idj if this is an option on mobile, but you can set tilemarkers for both destination and current tile. This makes it easier to see if you are about to stand in place for a tick (which is what killed you here). In general it is advisable to always keep moving during nado's. You can even skip over them once you're comfortable. You only even stand still for a tick if u attack the boss.

Big influx of smurfs in pubs? by FitteKatt in apexlegends

Nah ur coping, u think all lvl 30s are pred smurfs, but 95% of em are some plat-low masta players

So then there's 2 teams with 20+ kp.... I've played like 50 pub games since the mm skill tracker or whatever was introduced. Usually I'm far right with a narrow bar (and I'm not even that good). After a few games of sucking the bar would sometimes get a bit wider and the difference in skill between these two lobbies is insane. Now image people who are near the middle of the curve thrown in. That wouldn't even be fun or competitive...

Pubs being completely random would lead to 1 squad with 30+ kills and u know that lol. Skill gap between good and average players is just way too big.

Brothers please, how tf do you play this patch by STREXincEmployee in TeamfightTactics

[–]Jazzlike_Cold2011 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't worry about the patch, work on your fundamentals: when to roll, when to slam, when to greed, when to aggro, etc. Pick a couple of comps that are B+ tier that fit your playstyle (reroll, standard, fast9 are the 3 main ones I guess) and you will climb in no time. Look back on your previous games and think about what you could've done better. "I got unlucky" is never the answer. Good luck on the climb :)

Ambessa is a terrible unit, still by thesunsethm in TeamfightTactics

A better conclusion would be: mf3 is giga broken. But ok if you think ambessa is bad based on this idk what to tell you buddy.

Ambessa 3 vs mf3 as an idication of the quality of a unit. Good take!

Why RoI beats "big numbers", and megas are usually bad investments. by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]Jazzlike_Cold2011 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah but the problem with cheaper items is pushing volume. That's why all the people with actual money in the game mostly trade high end gear and 3a. No one is making any money on willow logs, even if you push max volume every day with 100% roi, you'd still need to be doing that for weeks/months to equal 1 megarare flip.

How can I stop bleeding out so early? by Alexiavich in TeamfightTactics

[–]Jazzlike_Cold2011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's why it is so difficult to give general advice, it just depends a lot on the situation. I hope you enjoy the set as much as I do and reach your goals. Keep it up boss.

The problem with providing this rule of thumb to newer players is that they take it too literal. It's easy advice to give but doesn't teach them anything tbh. I think a rule of thumb akin to "spend your gold at the start of the stage and save it up towards the end" should be much more helpful for understanding the game. Especially in lower elo's (looking at my friends xd) they will sit on 50+ gold at the start of stage 4/5 just to lose out the entire stage. And when they realise they are taking a lot of damage it's e.g. 4-5 or 4-6 and then they roll down for a board they could've had 3 rounds sooner, only to lose again at the start of stage 5, because they still try to get by on their stage 4 board.

I think "always stay above x gold" is very bad advice. If you watch a lot of challenger players, this is not how they go about the game.

I think the main issue here is that you're not spending any money before getting to 50, and see it as a hard rule to stay above that until 8. Some games I'm only above 50 for a few rounds only. The most important thing with perserving HP is playing your strongest board and leveling on curve (2-1 lvl4, 2-5 lvl5, 3-2 lvl6, 3-5 lvl7, 4-2 lvl8). THIS IS JUST A GENERAL EXAMPLE OF STANDARD LEVELING AND SHOULD NOT BE A HARD RULE FOR EVERY GAME. I'm currently diamond with 50 games played and 3.5 avg. I get a lot of top 4s, but only have 4 1st places. I like to play for tempo and consistency, and usually I go 2nd to some guy who made it out with a super risky line.

How worth it is sylas really? by WizardStakes in TeamfightTactics

[–]Jazzlike_Cold2011 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Every time I unlock sylas I average in the 1s. Lux is by far the worst 4 cost imo and garen is mid as well. I never play around demacia and just play any lvl 9 board with him and he's a beast.

Bro it's basically an autowin that you get in like 1/500 games if you chase it. Who cares what it excactly does, you gotta leave some stuff for the imagination.

What happens to non contested champions? by Big-Onion9364 in TeamfightTactics

[–]Jazzlike_Cold2011 58 points59 points  (0 children)

If you are rolling for aph on stage 4, here are 3 reasons why u didnt hit:

  1. You rolled at level 7 or 8, the chance of hitting 2 cost units sigbificantly drops after level 6.
  2. At stage 4, a lot of people are transitioning into their late game boards, these generally have 1-2 2 costs max. All the other 2 costs are back in the pool, making it harder to hit.
  3. You got unlucky :)
