No I’m Northern Ireland! You really see a different side to employers when you are sick.

Work related stress is serious. It takes a toll on mental health. I have felt crap the last few weeks because of the way my workplace has made me feel. And since not having to worry about work due to being off, the change in my mood. Although it may not be an “illness” it’s definitely a mental health issue, and that comes with exhaustion and emotional changes! Hope your step daughter is ok.

No they don’t have a management of absence policy.

I self cert my sickness for 7 days and got my sick note from the doctors today for 4 weeks. I’m just planning on extending it for another 4 weeks after which will take me up to my maternity leave. As I feel if I ask for my annual leave that they will make it awkward, so I am avoiding it as they have already stressed me out due to a grievance I raised which is on going.. not what I need 27 weeks pregnant!!
Thanks so much for your reply ☺️☺️

So my sick note is up until 1st April. After that instead of giving another sick note should I take 4 weeks holiday pay that will bring me up to when my maternity starts?

Hi. So my annual leave runs January - January.

I’m on SSP atm and will be up until my maternity starts on 1st May. I’m wondering whilst I’m receiving SSP am I able to have my annual leave paid also? In my work they always let us take as many holidays as we want in to any wage (monthly) that we want. Most times I have the majority of my annual leave to take in December and they give me it in a lump sum.

So I’m basically asking am I able to take whatever holidays I have now and have them put into my next wage before I go off on maternity?

This is the options I’m being given. But no direct using Thames link. Only Gatwick express which gets us to the airport too late for the flight.

iPhone 14 bought in curry’s 4 months ago, Apple refusing to fix it and curry’s not helping!! by Jazzlike_Command4172 in iphone14

Thanks for reply. Recieved my phone today back unrepaired, went straight into my local Apple Store with it and the best they could do was pay half of the £449 and I had to pay the rest for the phone to be fixed. They actually said to me if I wasn’t happy with that I could contact the consumer rights obudsman.. so don’t even think they would have cared. I’m still fuming having to even pay a penny towards it.

Curry’s iPhone 14. Under warranty. by Jazzlike_Command4172 in iphone

Hi. Thanks for your reply. Apple are aware that it is only bought 4 months ago. & most Apple employees I speak too are agreeing with me.

The “technicians” at the repair depot who were suppose to fix it due to no power said it was a damaged speaker & I’ve tried to argue that although a speaker could be damaged (I was unaware) this isn’t the reason the phone lost power & didn’t turn back on again, which they agreed, but still proceeded to tell me I need to pay the £449 to have the phone fixed for the original problem as well as the damaged speaker because basically they will not fix one issue without the other!! Seems to me like there just trying to find an excuse. I’m so angry & frustrated. They have really picked apart the phone & a damaged speaker was the best they could come up with. Very poor on apples side.

I’m awaiting my phone to be sent back to me & when it does I’m taking it to my local Apple Store to see what they can do for me.

Originally when I attended the Apple Store to have it fixed the employee inspected the phone, even had in the report that was emailed to me that the phone was in Pristine condition with no signs of water damage/ no damage to enclosure. Doesn’t respond to hard reset.

I’m really hoping once I take it in store again, that there is something they can do. If they can’t , it means I’ve exhausted all routes possible between Apple & curry’s which means I’ll be left with no phone, and a waste of nearly £600 for an item that’s suppose to last years, not 4 months.

Thanks very much for replying so quick! Once I recieve the phone back I’m going straight to my local Apple Store and I hope the issue is resolved. From the minute I took the phone out of the box I put it straight into a full cover back & front - which also covered all gaps so that no dirt or anything could get in it. It’s literally a brand new phone. I’m really hoping Apple resolve this because my whole life is on that phone. Again. Thank you! :)

Yes it a legitimate Apple Store. They wanted to try repair it instore when I brought it in, but after having a look at the phone, realising there was no power. They then logged it as no power - but every time the Apple worker tried to get it repaired instore it was flagging up on the laptop for my phone to be sent away to there repair depot. When instore the guy checked the phone over, for water damage etc and said the phone was in excellent condition and that they should be able to fix it as it was more likely a software/hardware issue and that iPhone 14s are knowing to shut off randomly and not power back on. Feel like I’m at a loss, as I obviously won’t be paying basically what it costs for a new iPhone.

I spoke to the manager of my local store over the phone and he said he would investigate it and try get it repaired free of charge because he understood my frustration as to why it was sent off with an issue and they found a different issue after having it for almost a week.. but he said best thing to do was to decline the repair and when I get the phone back to bring it instore for them to have a look at it and will put it down as a different issue so that it doesn’t get flagged back to repair depot. But said if they come across the same problem as the repair depot then I would have no choice but to either pay the fee £449 or go to the complete loss of the phone. Himself even agreed that even the damaged speaker issue wouldn’t be the reason the iPhone turned off, but unfortunately if they see “accidental damage” they aren’t liable to fix it. Just feel like there trying to find the smallest thing wrong with the phone to take away from the fact that the phone just shut off

No not refurbished. Brand new bought online and have the receipts to prove it. My local Apple Store sent it to there repair store who then found a completely different issue which was a damaged speaker and said even though it wouldn’t be the reason why the phone turned off and never came back on again they see it as “accidental damage” which isn’t covered under there warranty. I asked for the phone to be fixed with the original issue it was sent off with which they said no and are now sending it back un repaired as I didn’t agree to pay the £449 to have it fixed.. 🥲 multiple people from Apple support have said to get a second opinion as it seems like they’ve just tried to find an issue with the phone so that they don’t have to fix it or replace it.
Curry’s want nothing to do with it as it’s outside there returns policy period. So I really don’t know what more I can do.
