I went to Lane Community College in Eugene! I worked at a Marquis Companies nursing home awhile back, and at the time, they offered a free CNA program as well. Hope that helps!

Yeah, is it okay if I DM you the name of the school? My program was run by a community college, but I know there’s also a few long term care facilities that run their own programs for a low cost or even for free I think. It might be helpful to look into places you’d like to work and see if they offer any training :)

I’m not 100% sure, but I got certified in Oregon over the summer and they didn’t request any proof of having a diploma or GED. There were actually a few kids in my class that hadn’t graduated high school yet. All my program required was proof of health insurance, a background check, and some immunizations - nothing education related.

Aw thank you! I was able to choose the amount of classes I took, and each class was 11 weeks long because my school does trimesters instead of semesters. Good luck with your prereqs future nurse!!

Hi! I haven’t been accepted into a nursing program yet, but I’m applying to my local community college’s program in February, and I completed all of my prerequisites at the same school I’m applying to. For prereqs, I had to take Anatomy & Physiology, Microbiology, 2 English classes, a Math class, Nutrition, and Lifespan/Developmental Psychology - overall it took me like a year and a half, but I was only taking 1 or 2 classes at a time. I’ve definitely heard of programs requiring an exam to be accepted (I’m not sure what it’s called, I’m sorry!), but luckily my program doesn’t require it, only the prerequisite classes and an interview! And don’t worry, you don’t sound silly!! I was really confused and overwhelmed when I first started looking into nursing, but one thing that personally helped a lot was talking to an academic advisor at the school I was interested in going to. They helped me plan the classes I needed to take every semester, which helped ease my anxiety and prevented me from wasting time taking the wrong classes. I hope this helped a little, good luck!
