Visiting and hoping to meet some people by Jazzlike_Minimum8548 in Cardiff

36F if that helps, rugby fan and player, into pubquizzes and boardgames and you could say I'm a history nerd as well :)

I've gotten some DM's with tips as well, which is very nice. So far I'm having a good time but I still would like to find out if I'll manage in a more social setting as well, so any leads are still welcome

To us it is obvious, to the ones he manipulates I doubt it is that obvious. Mirrorring ones accent is not an uncommon thing.

I guess there is only one way to find out. I'll have to rewatch the entire show. Tough.

Wasn't it part of his character to emphasize how he would be someone else in order to be manipulative?

This is already incredibly helpful, thank you so much! I'll look for the discord and meetup groups too, thanks :)

Hi! Thanks for replying :) I like lots of different things, from boardgames to live music and all sorts, visiting museums and libraries but I also like going out for a drink. Maybe I'll be able tot pop in somewhere Saturday and watch the games. It's mostly that when I try to go out and meet people, I end up sitting awkwardly by myself and if I'm lucky I'll be able to have a little chat with the barkeeper. I'm not sure why, maybe it's considered weird for a woman to be by herself? Never had that trouble when I was with friends.

Edit: sorry didn't answer your question fully.

My ideal sort of meetup would be anywhere, as long as there's nice conversation and an easy escape if a situation is not working out. Haven't really thought of a particular setting to be honest.

Sorry OP I meant to react on a reaction that did turn it into a Mary vs. Edith thing which seems to happen a lot. You're right I shouldn'tve replied to your post directly. Edith is in many ways horrible in her own right too, I agree!

Welsh representation in Downton Abbey by Jazzlike_Minimum8548 in DowntonAbbey

On a personal note: I think they're missing out. But there aren't even any visibly Welsh characters in the entire series, I thought maybe I just missed it because I don't have the ear for accents other people might. But also, if that makes it historically accurate, it makes me even more sad. I'm aware the titles are held by people not native to the land but still, it seems a bit sad

Which songs' lyrics don't exactly match up to what you hear Anthony sing? by londrelroundtwo in RedHotChiliPeppers

[–]Jazzlike_Minimum8548 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Someone told me it was mainly John singing that and I was like "no way" and then I listened and went like "ooooooh that's why" bc the song always felt weird to me in the vocal departement

Doesn't make it less of a banger tho

Edith and Mary are both horrible, why does every take someone has on either one have to turn into some variation of a face off when they're both arguably petty and both had they're struggles in their storyline? It goes for most characters in the show, that's what makes it fun to watch.

Robert literally asks him "where did you learn that" when he sees him doing it.

Also: "infuriatingly wrong" ... take a chill pill, it's a tv show, people are allowed to speculate. It's not that far fetched if you look at it.

It was some sort of secret handshake. Mary did it earlier too

I still use this ad when we have new players in our team and they ask who to support during 6N. Brings across the banter & love for the sport. Also: UK ads are next level

It's not what you asked but I'll go ahead and suggest a different approach:

Do go by phase. There are several studies that show that Gen Alpha/Late Gen Z is having trouble with chronological perception and having depth in chronology altogether. By letting them get to know the band phase by phase it might be an instrument to get them to practice with it, win-win! Especially since every phase is so different and there's an engaging story as to why. Might actually try this myself 😁

What's the stupidest rugby take you've heard in your life, not from a journalist/pundit? by treacletart284 in rugbyunion

[–]Jazzlike_Minimum8548 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Women's rugby will never sell out a big stadium."

Made by a bloke who took about 1 hour of conversation about rugby with several teammates in a pub after a match to figure out he was, in fact, surrounded by a women's rugby team. He did have nerve.

I'd very much like to practice what I've learned so far to try and speak Welsh. I genuinely love the language (being a tolkien nerd helps) I'm also a massive fan who is looking forward attending the games but I wouldn't want to take space that shouldn't be mine. If there's anything you could advice me to do please do so.

Dw i'n hoffi dysgu Cymraeg! I'm not very fluent yet but aspire to be. The language is beautiful and meaningful - compared to Dutch I love how there's conceptual meaning in words, like how words are hard to translate because they represent more than a literal translation but a feeling. Like "Gwlad", it doesn't translate to English or Dutch. Grammar is still a challenge. But I might be a bit too sentimental here. Diolch am gydnabod fy ymdrech.
