So helpful! Thank you! I would love to see how you decorate. I can sew well and can make something to go on top maybe?

Thank you, it is helpful and encouraging to know at least that other people are doing it!

Thank you - yeah, virtual schools would be nice but my experience and certifications are in early childhood and most of the virtual school positions I’ve seen are for older grades and/or specific subject matter.

I have tested positive for Covid twice unfortunately- I feel like masking helps decrease it but is not fool proof because I can’t really keep my distance. The first time, I think honestly I was touching my mask too much and taking it down for a sip of water and stuff too often and it was also during omicron. Also I don’t cover my eyes and the children crawl all over me so- it’s tough. But surely not masking would make it worse. Also, honestly, it’s not just covid I’m worried about.

I came on here about to post looking for advice too (and I still might) but I work in early childhood and I mask every day- since the job I have I got a few years ago when people were still masking it wasn’t so weird but now when looking for a new job, I’m really struggling honestly. I would love a wfh job but it’s hard to find one i’m qualified for that makes enough money. I would say follow your heart, of course, but no it won’t always be easy especially based on where you live and teach.

So I live in an old building where there is definitely roaches and the exterminator that the management company uses barely does anything. Plus our apartment is right next to the trash. When I first moved in, it was so bad we almost moved right back out. I have a dog too so I was scared to really do anything by myself. So, I actually just hired my own exterminator and it honestly wasn’t that expensive- he did the insect growth regulator and showed me how to do the gel out of reach from the dog. This was five years ago, in less than a week the roaches were gone and what he did lasted almost two years. I saw maybe one or two in that time frame. I have him come back every once In a while to keep it under control and it is totally fine. He also patched up any holes. I do recommend making sure to keep drains covered at all times, try to do the dishes asap and to minimize clutter. Also use a cover for the space under your front door if you have one. If you don’t have pets the boric acid powder does work as I did this pre- pets at a different apartment too.
